videographers

Anybody heard anything good or bad about the videographers Chris Lackner, and Michael T. Fecik. They are on the list of low budget videographers.

Re: videographers

Hi-

It's my list I think you're talking about.

Vendors

Chris Lackner is young and relatively new to the wedding videography thing. His stuff is not conventional, which is why I liked his demo. I'm still not sure if I'm going with him.

Micheal J Fecik - you should go to theknot.com and page Mrsjill. She has nothing but wonderful things to say about him and she's the only person I know who used him. I called him, but he doesn't send out a demo and he's too far away for me to casually visit (I'm in Queens, no car).

Also consider Third Planet Video, they're on my list too. They're only $600 for an edited video - I just found them yesterday. And Tom Mulligan, although he seems to be bad about returning calls recently.

The thing about wedding videos is that they're overpriced. I know this because most of my friends are in the short film/indie film market, and people (Directors of Photography) shoot for around $200 a day. To edit 6 hours down to 1 hour might cost $300 - $600 or so. For weddings, however, the price becomes $1500 at least!

I'm trying to find someone who's done weddings before, but isn't all about wedding money.

The people on my list are freelancers and small companies, so you might not find as many raves on these boards about them. Most of them will do fine work, but as always, buyer beware.

Good luck!

Re: videographers

Thanks Nadine! I am so nervous about hiring someone without getting opinions from people that used them. I have heard horror stories about videographers. I agree they are overpriced; which is one of the reasons that I struggle with whether I should get a video at all. I don't like a video camera on me even for two seconds usually. So if I get a video, I don't want to spend a lot of money when I am unsure if I want it in the first place.!

well, you can try Third Planet and only get it taped if it's a money thing. That's only $300.

Always get references!
