I cannot make up my mind on whether it is worth the extra money to get a videographer to tape something that will probably only be watched twice in my life, once right after the wedding and again 50 years from now. Is it worth it or not?

IMO, I think it you should really have your wedding taped. Even if you look at it once, it will always be memorable. My sister till this day regrets not having her wedding filmed. If you don't want to spend the extra money, you can always get a friend or family member with a video camera to tape it for you.

I think it would be so special to show my kids and one day, my grandkids. I can't wait to get my video and i'm not even married yet! I'm sure i'll view it more than twice!

I debated this issue also when I began planning and EVERYONE I asked said it was the best thing they did. They all said the day can be a blur and you miss so many details that are captured on tape. I also had a friend tell me his children watch it constantly, it's their favorite vieo to watch over and over again. It's definitely worth the money and there are many affordable packages out there. I say go for it

I would have to say without a doubt YES, there are so many things that go on during the wedding that you might miss and with the videotape you can relive all those funny and special moments. I myself love watching wedding videos so I knew we had to have one. You should definitely get one JMO.

I agree with everyone else - it's worth the expense.

It really depends on what you want. For me, I am a total video person. I still watch my Sweet 16 video! I love watching wedding videos so for me, a video is a MUST!

You will have people on your video who may not be around years from now. Don't mean to sound morbid, but that was one major argument to convince me to hire a videographer.

Definitely YES!! There was a post on this a few weeks ago, and a lot of the NW's said the same thing - the day goes soooo fast, without the video they would have missed a lot of special moments!

Re: videographers...yes or no?
I HIGHLY recommend having a video. There is SO much that goes on that as the bride you miss. For instance, my FG walked the aisle and only tossed 1 petal at a time, spending time watching each petal fall. Without a video, I would never be able to see that. Also, years from now when some people pass away, you can show your children your video and point out the special people.

Julybaby is right about having people on there that might otherwise not be around in a few years...I have a tape (not wedding - Thanksgiving) with my father on it that I treasure and treat like gold (he passed away in 1999). If that was just a candid THanksgiving tape, imagine how special a formal wedding tape would be...

I also recommend a video. If you really can afford it in your budget. Hubby did NOT want a video, but I told him IM paying for it. I cant tell you how happy I amm for choosing it. There was so much stuff I missed right in front of me. It is worth every penny.

Re: videographers...yes or no?
I'm not getting a professional video. I wouldn't watch it more than once and I haven't really liked the ones I have seen. However, a close friend will be videotaping the ceremony and some key reception parts, he knows how to edit and put it to music.

Re: videographers...yes or no?
A couple of my friends did not get videos of their weddings and although they did not regret is right away about 1-3 years later they are very sad that they do not have a recording of their day to look at and show their children some day.

If you can afford it do it! My video captured so much more than my pictures ever could! emotions, excitement, and the partying...I love watching it! Also, there were many of my guests that didn't get caught in photos that are on the video. It was not obtrusive or in the way or anything like that and did not take away from any of the party's elegance!

Re: videographers...yes or no?
go for the video. At first FI was wishy washy about the video. I told him we are going to look at a videographer that came very highly recommended. We were there for 4 hours. He enjoyed watching the video's and how they captured everything. I was hooked even before going in.
We booked on the spot. He was so happy we chose to do video. He said to me later on, that the video is definatly something no one should pass up because it captures the voices, the emotions, and everyone having fun. It will capture things photography wont capture.
There are inexpensive videographers and we can all give suggestions. I am using Wild Rose and I cant wait till the big day and then to see our video.
Definatly go for the video.
