Re: Videography
Rambling Rose - I think the link is under vendors - has a lot of ways of creating smaller packages if you are on a smaller budget. That may be a great way to go. Video is a great way to relive those memories, but if you have a great photographer, he will be able to capture those memories for you as well.
But definitely give Rambling Rose a look... He has options way under $1K.
Good luck!

Oh I think you will really cherish it. You will always have it to look back on. I almost said no too, but everyone that didn't get one told me how much they regret it.

Re: Videography
I would say get one. Try and find one that is not highly expensive. Having a video of your wedding day is very important. JMO Try to do some research and see if you find one that will work with your budget. Good luck!

I'm on the fence about it myself... I often see these 'perfect' wedding pictures with the darn videographer in the background!

YEs yes yes!!
if you do a search all the brides on here that didnt get one were dissapointed that they didnt.
The day goes by SOOO fast and a video is a way to get to 'see' all the things you didnt get to during the actual wedding day.
You can even try craigslist or a local college and find someone who will do it for real cheap.

Re: Videography
I think you should definitely look into one, that is something you can never get back. Pictures are great, but they can't capture your emotions that day or hearing people talk and dance...I would definitely try to hire someone or if not ask a reliable family member to be responsible, but if at all possible look to hire someone....after the fact you could never go back & change your mind. Do a search on this topic & you'll see other people's opinions as well.

Oh! I posted about this once!
Everyone said go ahead and do it and gave me a million reasons why! (thank you, ladies!) I ended up hiring someone and couldn't be happier. In reality, it's not a lot of money when you're spending so much already.

Re: Videography
If you have to cut corners elsewhere to hire a videographer, DO IT!!! You wedding day goes by soooooooo fast and there are so many moments you won't realize you missed until you see your video.
Even though we dont' have our completed video yet, just the raw footage, I love to watch it. There were so many things that day we missed that I'm so happy to see on my video.

Re: Videography
take my advice.do a wedding video. U will regret it if u dont. I booked with Ray from Timeless treasures. I paid for the raw footage only and will pay for an edited version after the wedding.

Re: Videography
Thanks everybody your input really helped I will talk to FH about it again.... and shop around to see if I can find someone that is reasonable. That's my biggest fear is that I will regret it later on and then there is nothing I can do about it.

I knew I wanted one but nothing crazy- just to capture it 'live'. My biggest thing was that it woud go by quickly and I hear that kids love to see it. Id rather have it and regret getting it than not get it and regret that! I know many people don't even watch it but I like that it's there. I got a step above raw footage and will do more later if I really want to.Basically I want the hightlight footage b/c I don't think people will want to sit through the whole thing. I'm using Amore but also hear that Rambling Rose and Timeless treasures are highly rated and have good rates.
I didn't want to burdon a friend or family member with this job and I have a videographer attending my wedding! We also have friends and family who aren't able to attend so will get to see the video. In the grand cost of a wedding the 800-1000 it costs isn't too bad but I know that it can also be the one thing that hurts!
Good luck!

Re: Videography
We were originally not going to do video at all. FH always says when people ask if he wants to see the wedding video, his response is - why, I was there?!
I convinced him that HIS wedding day will be different. There will be things happening on the dance floor while we're saying thank-you to the guests, or things happening with the guests while we're dancing. Those hours are precious, and from what everyone says it goes by way too fast. A video captures everything, and allows you to relive it whenever you want.

a good videographer should not be in your pictures!!! he should not be in the way of your photography and your photographer should stay out if his....
to answer the post; I can't imagine NOT getting a video, but that's just me. I still LOVE watching my brothers and sisters videos from 1989-1996....my mom passed away and one day the people who are with us today won't be and the video is an excellent chance to preserve cherished individuals who are no longer with us. catch them talking, dancing and have a good time! even if you do a shoot only, you have to get something!!! in the grand scheme of things we spend so much money on everything else, and so many people leave out the lasting items. go for it!!!
