Videography

After the words of wisdom I received from the lovely ladies on these boards I have decided to get a wedding video.

My cousin is doing my photography. This is his specialty and doesn't do video. He recommended someone that seems really great but his starting prices are 4K. He said he would give me a discount bc of my cousin but how much is that really going to be? Maybe $500 off.

Is $3500-$4000 a reasonable price for a video?

I think that's a lot for just video. I'm paying under 6K for photo & Video.

Way too high for video... I am paying that for photo AND video....

Try Video Express Productions... he does AMAZING video! That's why I booked him. I think his videos are about $1300.00 (I got it included with my photo, so I don't know what it is alone).

what are you getting for that amount, any video screens? 2 videographers? dvds? how many? ect... I think that price depends on what is included.

Whe I spoke to him over the phone he didn't mention anything about video screens at the party which is fine. I don't need/want that any way. He said he would have at least 2 video cameras. He said it's the editing that makes it costly. He is the house videographer at Oheka Castle which right away makes me think that 'I'm not his kind of client.' The bride that has her wedding at Oheka probably isn't overly concerned about prices. I have an appt with him for next week but might call him and let him know I can't do more than 2K for a video. I don't want to waste his or my time.

Oh! I just re-read your post which I did not read carefully the first time. I thought you were budgeting yourself for $4K. I think $4K for a video is a lot. We shopped around and you can get more than enough coverage for what you want for way under that. I'm paying $2,800 and that includes them coming to my house before hand, 2 videographers at the church, then 1 going with us for our pictures b/w church and reception and then full coverage of the reception. Some of those things are upgrades so it doesn't have to be that much.

Thanks for your responses ladies!

I can't pay 4k for a video, considering I didn't want one in the first place! From what most of you are saying, I am sure I can get a quality video for around 2k.

Please don't pay that much for a video. You can definately get one for under 2000. I heard ramberling rose video starts at 500.

If you really just want a video that is not too extravegant, there someone I know who does them for 800. It has the recap, you get 3 dvd and some edits, nothing crazy. Im looking into absolute elegance they have a package with photo montage with you and your FH that will play at the wedding, the screens, and video for 1700 and cheap me I thought that was high. Listening to you girls and what you are paying now I know what the average is thanks!!!

I thought this guy from video express was very pushy over the phone. He's funny though. I have a meeting with him. He wanted me to book with him for photography but Im not familar with the company.
