Is everyone doing a vienesse hour? i feel like I dont want my party to empty out (would be in a seperate room). I know the vienesse is nice- but if you've seen one- you've seen them all- for the most part. I would maybe opt for elaborate pastry and stuff on the tables. what do you think?

Re: Vienesse?
I don't like Viennese hours OR tables. I have yet to have a dessert at a wedding that impresses me THAT much to devote an hour to. I think it takes away from the party. I plan on having rolling dessert carts brought to the table with the wedding cake or perhaps petit fours. Now that I think about it, i will have to inquire about fresh fruit on the carts as well. Many of my guests are health and diet conscious. I'd also rather spend the money on something else.

I got the vienessee without the extra hour thrown in without any extra charge. If it was extra then I would definitely not have spent extra for it. I think the wedding cake and maybe some wienesse platters on the table would be fine if you wanted something else besides the wedding cake.

We're not doing one... We just couldn't swing the extra $$...we prefer to spend it on something else.

Re: Vienesse?
We are having trays brought to each table with pastries, etc It's much too expensive to devote an entire hour to dessert!

Re: Vienesse?
we are doing a mini-vienesse.
basically all the goodies, but no extra hour. I thought by that time (1230pm) most people will have had enough anyway. Myself included (I normally go to be around 10pm!)

Re: Vienesse?
We are having one,,,I absolutely love desserts..and if it wasn't for the way my hall displays the V-hour the way they do,,I wouldn't have it. They have every dessert you can imagine.. It's an extra hour added onto your wedding so I dont feel that your taking away from your wedding...It also depends on your family and friends..I KNOW that my guests will stay...
The V-hour doesn't make or break your wedding,,,so whatever you decide to do your wedding will be just as spectacular!

Re: Vienesse?
Our place doesn't charge extra, but what they do is day affairs get a dessert trio for every guest (that you choose..) and night affairs get the vienesse... she often recommends doing the trio at night, because the vienesee kinda puts a halt to the party... I wanna boogie! I'll eat cake later

Re: Vienesse?
I had a vienesse hour with a separate room. the room was connected though so guests went in got desserts and came back to the party. I STILL Have people commenting on how amazing the desserts and coffees etc were! I LOVE a vienesse hour so it was a MUST for us. My party by no means emptied out either! Most of my friends kept dancing and didnt get desserts until just before it was over! While a lot of the older people went right away for desserts!

Re: Vienesse?
Are you able to have a vienesse table set up in the same room as the guests. That way the guests who want it don't have to leave the room and those who don't can still have fun and the room won't be empty/

Re: Vienesse?
We did it. Ours was set up in the same room as our guests but not on the dancefloor which was great. Everyone loved it.

Re: Vienesse?
I don't think it is necessary. Most places today are giving wedding cake and another dessert. I think it at times just takes away from teh wedding. If you really want it though do it!

Re: Vienesse?
Thanks for all the feedback- i think we will proably go with a rolling cart to the table or the elaborate desserts on the table- probably pastry, cookies, chocolate covered fruit. thanks again!

Re: Vienesse?
We are having one. When it gets close to the wedding date, they will ask us to decide between a viennese table and vienese carts. Same amount of food on each.
