Im debating whether to have viennese or not. The other choice is to give 4 desserts on a plate to each person, or to do a male and female dessert.
Its not a money issue because my caterer is giving me the choice.
Either way, I will have a chooclate fountain with fruits, pretzels etc.

Re: Viennese?
if money is not an issue, i would do the Viennese... they are so cool and there are so many options.
however, at that point in the wedding, people are so FULL from all the food and booze... i would only do it if it wasn't anything extra. i've been to weddings where i don't eat anything at the Vienesse hour because there is just no more room!

Re: Viennese?
The only reason im thinking of not doing it is because im not adding an extra hour. the wedding is from 6-12. so im thinking it may cut into dancing time. (Especially because the viennese is done in a separate room, out on the veranda).

If you are not adding a extra hour I wouldnt add the V and I will just add the 4 desserts, JMO

Re: Viennese?
I had the same choice. I went with the plated desserts....just because it flowed smoother (in my opinion). Plus, I got attacked and waited on long lines at the last few V hours I went to at weddings. This is not always the case, but I really enjoyed my 3 plated desserts.

Re: Viennese?
Ill be honest, and this is ONLY my opinion, Ive been to 4 weddings that had a VH and truthfully yes guests loved it but it felt like the wedding was never going to end.
not that us brides ever want it to end but it just seemed to long to us.
I would go with what you want. Guests love the VH there is no doubt about that-but if people arent expecting it usually they are TOO full to really enjoy it.
ETA: If you arent adding an hour making your reception 5 hours then I would NOT do VH

Re: Viennese?
i didn't vote because in all honesty it depends on ur Reception venue...if u know they do an impressive viennese then it's totally worth it - if u know it's 'alright' then i'd go for the deserts on the table. Our wedding is at JT & they are KNOOOWN for their ultra impressive viennese - so i knew we'd get our money's worth...however i've been to a wedding or two where the bride & groom paid up the nose for it and it wasn't so great. so if u're paying a lot extra just try & find out some info..

I agree that if you know your RH does a FAB vienesse hour the def go for it.. but the four desserts for each person are definatly different, and something that people will remeber

Re: Viennese?
When are you getting married during the day or in the evening. If it is during the day then it cuts into your reception and once dessert is served IMO it signals the end of the party and people might start to leave. If it is an evening wedding then you might be able to extend your party a little. You can't extend a during the day party if the place is having another affair in the evening. Just something to think about and ask your Reception hall people about

Re: Viennese?
I didn't want a VH, but my parents really pushed for it.. I had a 6 hour reception (my cocktail was an hour and a half, and then 4 and half hour reception) I was concerned about it being a wedding killer, and that everyone would stop dancing. My VH took place in the room next to my ballroom though, and people still danced after it was over.
