Viennese Hour?

Viennese Hour?

I feel soooo silly asking this but where better, and who better to ask but fellow and past brides!!!?

My FSIL asked me if we are getting a Viennese hour thrown in and I was puzzled as to what she even meant. I mean sure I know some venues allow you to add a Viennese table/platter and things like that--but an actual additional hour?

Does that mean an hour post reception??? I am the only one who is as puzzled about this and has never heard of it?

I'm marrying into a huge, beautiful, passionate, blended crazy Italian/Irish family who is serious about food and parties....any input would be much appreciated!

TIA

This! My wedding will consist of lots of Italians that love their food (and others that just love dessert in general) so they are going to go NUTS over this :)

If you can afford it without breaking the bank, I say go for it! I'm not having one myself as it's just an unnecessary additional expense for us, but I LOVE going to weddings that have a Viennese hour! Everybody enjoys it

not everyplace it's an additional hour - the Watermill it was in your 5 hour package. That's why I just did trays on the tables instead. I did not want to take time away from the DJ & dancing that I was paying for since they set the tables up on the dance floor.

I knowwww...I may decide to splurge for it... we got a great deal on the venue to begin with so I was planning on adding a thing or two ---but I dont want to push my luck since they have already been so awesome and flexible with us....

sigh! okay thanks for all the input girls. I really appreciate it. I am going to email them right now!!!!

EXACTLY!!!!
I do not want to disappoint-- when we have Sunday dinners or just have someones bday celebration and we claim its just 'coffee and cake' There's always much more than just bday cake---pies, cookies, muffins you name it!

Lol I love it though, and its def why the FH is such a foodie himself ;)

This!!! I just went to a wedding that had it and it was phenomonal! This extended the reception time. However, be careful that it doesnt end up being a total waste bc people are stuffed from all the food they just ate at cocktail and dinner LOL

I think it depends on your venue. The VYC gives you an option to add an hour or just have it with the cake.

We chose to do one. We werent sure at first, but then they made us a deal that was too hard to pass up. I loooove desserts as do many of our family like them too. Its just another bit of over the top fun. Not necessary but fun.

FH is Italian so we will be having a lot of Italian foodies as well. And I have a sweet tooth myself

Luckily for us, our package at our RH included the viennese hour

I'm having one, but it isn't an extra hour. Everyone is already telling me that 12:30 is too late to end, so wouldn't add the extra hour anyway.

At first I didn't want it since its extra $$ plus wasted food but my hall said it would be the same pp with or without it so I said include it. Who doesn't love dessert. It did extend the reception an hour. I guess you can say it was thrown in ?!?!?!

side note: 12:30 is too late to end?????? And I felt bad having our reception end at 12 because I'm the day before July 4th, figured people would be in a partying mood due to the three day weekend....hmmm.

I just went to my cousins wedding this past weekend that ended at 11:30pm and my (slightly elderly, mid 60;s) parents were dying to get out of there because they were tired and over the 'loud music' :(

Oh boy... maybe an extra hour is not the answer, dessert/viennese or not, lol sigh.
