I have seen past brides say they were going to put boxes or tins or something by the viennese table so that guests can take dessert home with them if they would like.
1. What type of boxes/tins did you use? 2. Did you put a sign or a saying or something on/by the boxes so that guests knew what it was for?
TIA!

Re: Viennese Hour 'to go' boxes?
Yeah I think I am going to do that considering the VH has soooooooo many pastrys, I wouldnt want it to go to waste at the end of the night. I have seen RH's provide the guests with styrofoam boxes. I have taken home sweets before from the VH

At a counsin's wedding they didn't let people take them home.... (Don't remember where it was, sorry...) Maybe you should check with your RH?

Really? That would TOTALLY piss me off if I was the bride! I used to work at a RH and all of those cakes, pastries, etc. either go in the garbage or the staff takes it home. I used to tell the people at the table I was waiting on to make plates and I would pack them up for them to take home. I'm glad you mentioned that though. I'll have to find out.

Thats def a really good idea!! I know as a guest that I would probably not be able to eat much of the dessert, but would love the idea of bringing some back for the next day!!

My RH is providing the boxes. Maybe you could ask yours if they do?

Re: Viennese Hour 'to go' boxes?
I'm doing this as well since the Viennese Hour is so huge, it seems nuts to have all those leftovers go to waste. I asked my RH and they told me I had to supply the boxes, so I searched online and finally found boxes at www.usbox.com. The boxes are plain white, so to dress them up a little I ordered custom stickers from Pippy's Sweets with FH's and my name on it and the wedding date. They look so cute! I'll post pics when I finish assembling all of them.

We're having a candy buffet, mini-viennese hour and I bought chinese take out boxes for people to fill up. I got them at Joanne Fabrics on clearance after Valentines day for about a $1 a box. AC Moore carries them also.

I went to a wedding where they had those metal take out tins with the white tops. Plus bags to put and carry them in. It was such a great Idea. We where not hungry at the wedding but once we got home those pastires and cookies where yummy.

Re: Viennese Hour 'to go' boxes?
I would double check that people are allowed to take food with them prior to purchasing the boxes.
There are some catering halls that do not allow guests to take home any food from the hall. Just double check to be safe

Re: Viennese Hour 'to go' boxes?
I know we're going to have a lot left over, so I searched all over the web. Google 'pastry boxes' and look on wedding accessories sites, you'll find them. However, a lot were expensive or came in set of 50 or more, and I know I'm not going to need that much. Then the Kate's Paperie in Soho had a big sale because they're moving a couple of blocks. I got 30 small white foldable boxes and huge sheets of navy blue food-grade wax paper to line them with for about $15. Score!! And even in my colors.
