Villa Lombardis

Original post by akaMrsT

Well, FI and I went to look for my former friend who I was stupid enough to cosign for and she is not living at either address we have - not event he Brooklyn address she used last month to get credit some place. I plan to go by the mail box service she is using to see if it's a P.O. box or a person. If it's a person, I can serve her court papers there since I am definitely suing her a$$!!

So, since we were at exit 56 in Central Islip looking for Lisa, we decided to look at Villa Lombardi's at exit 61.

We both liked the place but the cocktail room is very flowery which I don't like. We could use plan white linens instead of the flowered ones but some of the curtains are still flowered. We both hated the carpet but agree that it would probably not be noticeable since everyone will be dancing and drinking. FI finally admitted that he HATED Milleridge Cottage. He had told me he did not like the place before since he thought it was outdated but today he said he actually HATED the place.

He still likes Fox Hollow, Russos (w/o the elevator entrance though) and Jericho Terrace but Russos and JT have no outdoor ceremony or cocktail option.

Villa Lombardis gave us a quote for September 05
Friday afternoon $74.95pp Plus 18% plus tax with a 75 minimum
Sunday afternoon 74.95 min 75
Thursday night 74.95 min 75

And I did ask about the .95 but the BM didn't know why either?

Sat night is 114.95 min 200
Sat aft is 89.95 min 100
Fri night 89.95 min 150
Sun night is 79.95 120 min

It's very easy to find and the Hampton Inn has a free shuttle for guests to Villas.

We would have the ceremony there 5:30 p.m. for the room with the french doors & 7:30 p.m. for the other room (nearly identical but mural instead of french doors). For friday the options are 6 p.m. & 8 p.m. for the ceremony.

A bride from the afternoon wedding came out to tell us how great the place is and how they were so attentive throughout the entire process. It does bug me that we can't throw rose petals unless they are freeze dried but we can use biodegradable rice or MAYBE birdseed. It also bugs me (slightly) that house vendors are half price but outside vendors are 2/3.

Anyone have any more info on Villas?

I normally take my 2 page excel sheet of questions but this was last minute so I was not prepared - except I did have my camera (video mode is on it) in case I found Lisa and needed to tape her since she has turned out to be such a lying piece of crap.

The questions I did not ask are:

Are kids half price?
What ages?
Any limit on number of ½ price kids?
Vendors included in minimum?
Are kids included in minimum?
Are candles allowed?
In-house Wedding Planner?
Cake cutting charge?
Can we have a tasting
Ratio of Guests/Servers:
What will waiters wear?
Maximum Number of Tables for room:
Overtime charges:
Method of payment - CC's acepted?
Any tasting events or showcases before we book?
Photos of hall in different seasons?
Can we upgrade if under minimum (no wasted dinners) i.e., cordials or upgrade entrees?
Cancellation and refund policy?
Smoking area?
Any renovations planned?
What/When?
Expected completion date?

If you have this info, please post.

Thanks much.

Re: Villa Lombardis

I was there last night for a christmas party...

It was really beautiful.. Loved the cocktail our food but hated my dinner.

It wasnt a choice just the chicken cord on blue and it was dry and icky.. BUT

that being said it was a multi company party and probably alot diff then a wedding.

I did not consider it becasue it was a little too far for us and I agree with you about the decor. But....my friends had their wedding there 2 years ago and it was awesome. The food is great and there is tons of it. They do give you a whole lot for the price. I would definitely consider it. And if you need outdoor space, it has beautiful grounds.
You are so detailed!!!!! Where were you when I was planning?

FI and I were at the Waldorf last night (Hillary Clinton spoke) and we got a lot of opinions from the married people at our table. One guy had been to several Bar Mitvah's at a lot of the halls in LI.

FI admitted that he really likes Villa Lombardis (as well as Fox Hollow). The other places I really must check are North Ritz Club & Carlyle on the Green (which is just torture since I know it is pricey). We both want one wedding at a time but the $74.95 price and 75 guest minimum for Villa Lombardi is just so great that it is a real contender even if we LOVE NRC and Carlyle and can afford them both with our current 194 guest list.

Okay I don't have any info but can I just say that I went to a wedding there last year and the food and service was OUTSTANDING!!!! It was the best wedding that I've ever been to.

Re: Villa Lombardis

Yeah, the bride we met at Villas said everything was perfect!!!!

I don't think I have ever heard a bad thing about Villa Lombardis except they are a 'tight ship' and no throwing rose petals and such.

They have a 7 entree dinner menu too - that's the basic menu. The basic menu has like 10 pass hors d'oeuvres, a sushi station, antipasto display, chees display, several cold salads including a seafood salad with calamari, mussels and shrimp, choice of 10 buffet items, a pasta bar - 2 choices & a carving station - 2 choices. Plus there is red & white wine at each table and they have margaritas, daiquiris and pina colodas - which a lot of places do not have. I'm a pina coloda girl (with a bit of strawberry daiquiri mixed in). It's called a 'Miami Vice'.

Then there is the appetizer, then salad, then sorbet or pasta course, then 7 choices of entree & then wedding cake (with ice cream) and pastries on each table (cannoli and cream puffs) plus coffee, tea, espresso & cappuccino.

Nobody will leave a Villa Lombardis wedding hungry.

Some pics for those who have not been to Villa Lombardis

Ceremony can be held here if outside

Garden room - but it was not set up since half the room was being used for the vienesse hour. They stacked up the chairs from that part of the room in this area.

Vienesse hour set up

You can see the garden themed drapery in this pic.

Garden themed table cloth or you can use white.

Lobby - reception areas on either side. The reception area to the right is for the later party (and has french doors behind the couple). The room we saw has a mural behind the sweetheart table.

Sweetheart table for the later party (mural not french doors).

Katrina,

You should go for it! That price for all that is amazing. But if you are going to consider Villa Lombardi's you might want to check out Chateau La Mer as well. I think for a Sunday evening (10/9) they quoted me $68 so I am guessing a Sunday afternoon will likely be less. They do the frozen drinks stuff too and give lots of food as well. It is really nice-on the water and all that good stuff, and not as far out as Villa Lombardi (close to the border of Nassau and Suffolk) My guess is Carlyle and NRC and going to be more, but you should defintely check them out. Maybe some of the NRC brides can give you a ballpark over FM.

Let me know how things go!!!

I hear NRC is about $65pp++ but for a Thursday night. FI is fine with a Thursday though and said since family balked at the Mexico idea and the expense ($1500 pp for 3 nights at the Royal Hideaway in Playacar), they can take off work on a Thursday & Friday to hike out to Suffolk County.

The good thing is they can stay the weekend and hang out in NYC.
