Anyone know of vineyards other than Vineyard Caterers that aren't ridiculously expensive?

I wish! Many places require a site rental fee, not including any chairs, tables, food, etc.
I can't remember what vineyard, but FH's Best Man was looking to do a vineyard wedding. The place they looked at was a $15,000 site fee. I'm sure there are places that are less, but after hearing that, I strayed away from looking at them.

I know, that's what I've been seeing and its insane!! We are driving out to see Vineyard Caterers on Sunday and I feel like its such a waste of a drive to go that far out East (from Massapequa) just for one venue. But I can't find anywhere else within our budget.

I went to a wedding at Martha Clara a few years ago. It was very nice but I know they had to have almost everything brought in.

make a day of it. I was dying to look at the Vineyard Caterers, so one day we were planning on going to the wineries and we stopped there on the way.
I've heard their food is okay and if it rains, your cocktail hour is kind of shot. Other than that it was absolutely beautiful.

All the vineyards I contacted were really expensive. :( I grew up around the corner from VC, and never really saw the appeal of it. Just a standard catering hall inside. It doesn't have the same charm of a vineyard wedding :(

This is actually what I'm realizing the more I look at it. I think I wanted to go check it out because I liked the idea of a vineyard wedding but couldn't afford Raphael or Martha Clara (both are GOOOORGEOUS) so I was trying to settle. I'm actually thinking about canceling the appointment now. I don't know if its worth the trip all the way out east and then a ferry home to where we live in Rhode Island if I can already tell its not what I want it to be. Sigh =/

I understand what you mean about traveling home for just one appointment! What's your backup plan since the other vineyards are too expensive? If you plan on seeing any other venues on Long Island I would try to make them all during that trip so that if you are let down at least maybe you'll see one place you like. If you are still looking for vineyards I think there are some nice one's in CT (I've heard good things but haven't looked). I know your in RI but didn't know where most of your family is. Good Luck!

I went to a wedding at vineyard caterers years ago. The ceremony was at sunset in the vineyard, it was BEAUTIFUL!!! The rest of it, meh. My least favorite wedding I've ever been to. And I've been to about 20 here on LI.

My FI and I got a *really* good deal at Jason's Vineyard cause we booked over a year ago before their gazebo & parking lot were built up. Not sure how much they're charging now, but it is a beautiful place & the caterer they work with is amazing. He'll help provide you with tables, chairs, linens. Remember almost every vineyard you go to, you're going to have to get your own caterer and bring in everything (tables, tents if you want, etc.) yourself which can definitely add up.

I wanted a vineyard wedding too but it's just so pricey! I also don't have the time or patience to deal with bringing in all of the furniture, bathroom and decor rentals that entails. I booked with VC & although some of these comments in this thread aren't positive, I liked it. I know 2 people who attended separate weddings there and 1 bride who got married there and all were happy. I say give it a chance, bur I am biased ;)
And definitely make a day out of it! I drove out from queens so I went to lunch and wineries and a farm stand after!

Thanks everyone for the advice! VC actually ended up not getting back to me right away and when they finally did they told me they had given my timeslot away and were now booked up all day Sunday =/ so problem solved, I won't be heading out East this weekend! Now just to decide if I want to head out there on a future weekend to reschedule.
I am really not excited about the idea of having to bring in all the rentals, etc. I got a quote for Duck Walk which was actually pretty decent for the off season and they do most of the rental through them or a preferred caterer -- anyone have any thoughts about them?

Duck Walk uses the same caterer as Jason's. It's a beautiful venue. How many people were you planning on having?

That's a good number. I say check out both Duck Walk and Jason's, I believe the same woman (Andrea) handles events at both places. I can give you her contact info if you'd like, just PM me

I wanted a vineyards wedding but with the site fees and what not it turned out to be way too expensive for me. We looked at vineyard caterers. It was nice there but it didn't have the same feel as a regular vineyard. The outside and cocktail hour room are beautiful but if it rains it seems like that goes to complete waste and then you are basically just in a regular catering hall.
