Vinyl Records?

Vinyl Records?

Who still has'em?

If so, what?

Just curious!

They sound so much better than CDs or tape. Much warmer and realistic.

DH has a huge collection of all different ones in the closet. Unfortunately our stereo system does not have a record player but he might be getting one soon

Re: Vinyl Records?

I have all my old 45's and albums with no record player to use...I keep them for memories I guess.

Re: Vinyl Records?

I must have 250 records...mostly new wave stuff from my jr high/HS years...

I never liked cassettes...so I always concentrated on LPs...

I probably have a good 100 45s too...

I love the sound too...

DH and I have been carting hundreds around. I'm considering it part of my retirement plan - figure I can sell some for a profit some day. Too bad a lot of them are not in good shape.

Ron, you'd probably even recognize a lot of them. They're from your era! Wanna buy the complete works of Gary Puckett and the Union Gap? How about my original Monkee's albums and my 1910 Fruitgum Company album? I got Hendrix, Zappa, Simon & Garfunkle, Patsy Cline... lots of goodies from the mid-60's on forward.

Re: Vinyl Records?

I have alot of 70's classic rock stuff; Hendrix, Led Zep, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, etc. I have TONS and TONS of Frank Zappa stuff - my brother in law gave them to me when he moved to TX. I also have alot of 45's. Does anyone have a need for 'Jam On It' or how about 'Like a Virgin?' Wait!! What about Whoodini's 'Funky Beat?'. Too funny. I have an eclectic collection that's for sure: Billy Idol, Billy Joel, Metallica, Doors, Boston, Kansas, Kiss, Iron Maiden, WASP, Stray Cats, Police, Sting, Poison, Prince, Scorpions, Van Halen, U2, Rush, Pink Floyd, Run DMC, Aerosmith (early albums).

I recently bought one of those old fashioned radio type things with a turntable so I could listen to them.

While I was reading your post I came across, 'Ron, you'd probably even recognize a lot of them. They're from your era! ' and thought whoa, who you talking about - 'my era'!!!! Then when I saw what you had I thought yes, I would be interested in buying them. Some years ago my house burned to the ground and I lost my vinyl. I had a lot of really good albums (don't call them that anymore do they ). I miss them. The sound is so much warmer than digital. Anyway, if you are serious I would be interested.

Re: Vinyl Records?

just a funny story...

in the last 90s a student came into our department office and said that their teacher needed a 'record' that they left there.

it was in plain sight and we pointing in the direction...the student walked up to the area...the record right in front ofhim...and kept asking where? I don't see it?

he had no clue what a record was!!!

Re: Vinyl Records?

We have tons and tons and tons. From 45s to 33 1/3...I'm NEVER getting rid of them! I still even got my record player

We still have them
Boston
Pink Floyd
Zepplin
AC/DC
Zebra
Gosh a whole bunch of them
Then we go to auctions up here and my DH keeps bidding and bidding on them telling me someday they are going to be worth a lot of money....Well good because we might need a new place to live if he keeps buying them !!!
