I voted the Watermill, but I am biased!

Being unbiased I have been to weddings at:

FoxHollow - very nice, food was really good, quite pretty and 'homey' feel. Good service.

Milleridge - nice, food was good (didn't like the CH, but reception food was good). The service was ok, I thought the servers & bartenders were actually rude. The wedding I went to had a bit over 200. Since they open up the main room if you have a lot less, I feel like the room would be too big.

Watermill - very pretty, food was ok, but so crazy and hectic. Service was good. Too much going on

Good luck! No matter where you pick, I am sure it will be beautiful.

Milleridge Cottage!!

I love this place but FI thought it was not modern enough. The atrium is sooo beautiful for an indoor ceremony. For your date it's not as expensive as the summer months either. For 2/2006 I was quoted $54 pp for a Sunday afternoon with 150 minimum.

FI likes Fox Hollow - the Garden Terrace. But I did not like the fact that the cocktail hour was in the Briar Fox room instead of the Winter Garden. For 2/2006 we were quoted $51 pp for a Sunday afternoon.

ETA: both places have nice outdoor ceremony locations although at Fox Hollow there are cars at the rear of the ceremony area. I took pics and you can see the cars from the point of view of the camera while the bride is walking down the aisle. Also, at Fox Hollow you will have to cross the parking lot to get back and forth between the ceremony area and the hall.

The Milleridge Cottage is elegant, I think the all hardwood floor makes it very elegant, but it is not very formal, like with marble & stuff.
The staff is great & it is a good value for the price.

The Woodlands seems nice.
Did it used to be something else?I went to a Christening in a restauarnt on that golf course about 13 years ago.

Do they have a web page? I saw their page on LIW, but there was no link to their ownpage.

Do you have any pros & cons about what you have seen so far?

That was the point I was trying to make. I was not knocking the Milleridge Inn, so sorry if I offended any brides. As I had said, I have not been ther, only going by pics I have seen.

Thanks everyone. We are leaning towards the Woodlands. We just have a few concerns with it.

The dance floor seemed a bit small (but maybe I am wrong)...

Has anyone noticed this who has visited the Woodlands?

Let me know.

Thanks!

my best friend went there for a wedding a few weeks ago and she brought up the same point as you about the dance floor. she said it seemed like the dance floor should be bigger or going the same way as the room is shaped. otherwise the only other thing that bothered her is that there was not enough sitting room at the cocktail hour.

See if they can add to the dance floor and make it bigger. I thought the girl I had met with there said they could do that.

i think that you should follow your heart on where to have your wedding - that is what i did ---

make a list of what is important to you and see which hall matches it the best

i have never been to the woodlands - but have a friend who went to a wedding there in august - her only two concerns were the same that people are saying here - that there wasnt enough seats at the cocktail hour (but this happens at a lot of places) and the smallish dance floor (which depends on how many people you will have up and dancing

Here are the details:

-150-175 Guests
-Saturday Night (Spring 2006) March-June
-Ceremony outdoors in a Garden (if possible) at the reception location.
-Reception must have a great dance floor and be very elegant

Land's End is on the water
Flowerfield's is also beautiful but not on the water...beautiful gardens also
both pricey and may have a higher minimum for a saturday night

I love the watermill but if you want an evening wedding, i dont know if it is possible there because they can only have the ceremony during the afternoon. That is what they told me when i went there; i could be wrong but if you are considering it, you may want to check it out.

All the places you listed are lovely and i think you will be happy with any one of them.

Re: Vote for my wedding location!

I have only been to carlton on the sound and the woodlands and would definitely say go with the woodlands. I loved it. It is everything you want and the outside ceremony location is gorgeous. The outside of the location was also important to me as it gives your guests an idea of what's to come. For me, no matter how nice the inside of carltun on the sound is, the parking lot ruined it for me.
