People seem to think I am all for discrimination. Of course I want to see it end. But in *reality*... unfortunately that will never happen. Thats why I just can't get all worked up when I read posts saying a specific group is being discriminated.

Just like Sassy's original post about the convicts not being allowed to vote in Florida... there will always be a group that will raise holy hell saying they are being discriminated. Whether it be whites, blacks, gays, whatever.

I am not knocking Sassy's post... i actually want to hear if things like that are happening. But the icon is more used for me being 'not surprised'.

I missed this thread when I started mine regarding ID at voting this morning.

Neither Hubby or I was asked to show ID .. I don't think anyone was, and this was my first vote.

So this morning my mom called me and said on CNN they were mentioning how voters in 'black' districs were getting harassed and being asked to show IDs.

Well, my mom (a democrat) and my step dad (a republican) got into a big fight- step dad said, no way- no way that's happening.

Well, he went to vote- (they live in Amityville) and he was asked to show ID... he called my mom and she said, 'I told you so'...

Well- he still didn't believe it- and called up his friends that live in 'white' districts- and guess what, they weren't asked to show ID.

You have GOT to be kidding me! Maybe you should vote democratic for more school funding.. apparently you never learned how to read and would benefit from some type of tutorial program.

But seriously- I didn't say it was a black or white issue, I was merely putting 'out there' what was on CNN and what was the experience of my parents who live in a mostly black electoral district... I never once passed my judgment or injected my own opinions into this thread.

If you really think that THIS post is fueling some type of race war or electoral fraud then I give you a lot of credit for having faith in the influence of LIW.com...
