So my hall won't let me use the votive placecards but instead will have thme lit on the tables already. But since it's stupid to have the guests names on them on the tables already and then have to do seperate placecards we decided since wehave the materials lets put our monogram on them instead. (Does that sound ok to everyone?) Anyway, I can't seem to make them fit perfectly, I know they are going to be curved but ho did you get them to be curved? did you just cut them with scissors? I tried using a paper coutter because I don't have a steady hand but that obviously won't make them curved. anyone have any tips?

Re: votive placecard drama continues....
I made a template actually. I used a piece of paper and wrapped the votive in it, then I cut around the votive. Then I took the cut piece of paper and traced it onto a piece of cardboard and cut the cardboard out to use as a template.

I don't know if this would be expensive..but they make battery operated tealights?
ETA: Maybe your hall wold let you use them if they were battery operated.
Here's what they look like in and out of a votive. I think they are like $1 each which is much more then a regular candle. But it looks nice and lasts 25 hours supposedly.
They also have battery operated votives. I think it was like 12 for $30.00. (See pics) Supposedly lasts 50 hours or (8) 6 hour shifts.

You could also use water in the votive holder and a rose bud or some sort of flower.
