Ok, so I just bought 100 plain glass votives at Michael's (3 for a dollar through tomorrow) to use as my placecards. I call my mother to tell her about my score and she says, 'Well don't you think that could be a dangerous fire hazard with 100 people walking around with lit candles?'
Ahhh - I just called my hall yesterday with a question so I don't want to call again today. I know other people obviously have done it, don't know about at my hall though.
What do you think? Do you think I should ask or just got with it?
Some additional info: they set up the table with the placecards in the middle of the cocktail hour so I would want them to be lit the entire time. If you don't that's a good idea, do you think it would be better to set them up out of sight in the reception room where someone could light them at the end of cocktail hour and people could take them after they walk in?

i got married at HWC and had the votive placecards... there may be pics in my review... i put a poem with them asking people not to pick them up until after the cocktail hour...

call them! They are there to service you...you're paying lots of money!
My family as well will definitely burn the place down....A bunch of Irish Germans and an open bar...never good :)

I'm probably doing regular placecards, but we'll have a bunch of candles on the table around the centerpieces. I'm not all that worried about it, and my hall doesn't have a problem with it - they even provide votives for the tables!
However, you MUST call your hall to find out - many halls don't allow candles because of the fire hazard. Don't worry about calling two days in a row - that's what they're for!

i went to a wedding w/ votive placecards. the table was set up on the dance floor... so you got it as you walked into the RH and not the during the CH.. it was the hottest placecard i ever got
everyone had it at their table so it looked nice with all the candles around...
