Votive Placecards (sorry, kind of long)

I know that this topic has been discussed many times, and I did searches and found a lot of great info. Just had a few questions that I was hoping you lovely ladies could answer....

I never intended to do these but now am thinking it may be a unique touch (and may be easier to do than the other placard idea I had) so, how easy are these to do? I am not very crafty but if they are not too tough I am sure I could figure it out.

How long did it take to do these, start to finish, and how much would you estimate it cost (i.e. for all of the supplies)?

What exactly do you need? The clear votive holder, tea lights (I saw a post that said use clear tea lights without the metal, are they necessary and/or hard to find), and the vellum?

And, from the posts, it seems like trial and error to get a 'template' - match one vellum piece up to the votive until you get it right and then use that as your template?

Any advice/ideas/info is much appreciated!!!! Sorry this is sooooo long!

It did not take long at all! We spent one Friday night and part of the next morning finishing them. I did most of the cutting and DH taped the vellum onto the votive holder. We did about 125. It cost me $10 for the vellum, $2 for the double sided tape (thanks to National Wholesale Liqudators) $3 for the votive candles on sale at AC Moore and $35 (approximately) for the votive holders.

What I did to make my template was :

used a blank piece of paper and wrapped it around the votive holder. I started from the bottom to make sure it fit completely around the holder. Then I took scissors and cut away the extra paper. I trimmed the edges and taped the template to the votive. Once I liked how it looked, I printed all the names onto vellum. I was able to fit about 3 to a sheet. I used the double sided tape to tape the template onto the vellum and cut. Presto! All done.

I hope this makes sense. If not I will do my best to clarify.

Somewhere there is a post that if you use Avery Clear Labels they are super easy, and take very limited time.

My hall doesn't use placecards, so I'm not doing them myself - but I remember seeing the post about how easy it was because there was no cutting, no gluing etc, and that all the Avery stuff comes with its own template for Word or Word Perfect.

I'm getting my votives from cudge.net...they sell them in bulks of 72 and cheap! Any kind...I'm getting frosted ones.
The tealights you can get anywhere...I got mine at Ikea for $3
At michaels they see Votive lables...they fit perfectly around the votive so there is no bubbling! and they work with most printers.
