Ok heres the thing.... when i get nervous i laugh so i decided that i can not repeat my vows. i only want to say 'I do' (yes i know how immature). My mother makes a face everytime i tell her. My friends were only supposed to say 'I do' too, but the priest forgot and they had to repeat. I really hope that does not happen!!!!!
Do you think a lot of people say 'i do' ? I know it takes a little away from the ceremony, but i have decided that is what i need to do!!!
Any feelings on this??

Re: vows
I think it would be fine, if the alternative is you are going to be laughing.

Re: vows
Whatever you choose is fine. At one point during my vows I did start lauging. I started talking before the pastor was finish.
You will be fine either way.

Re: vows
You can have the Priest repeat each vow, then you say it. That way you are saying your vows to your husband, but you don't have to memorize them. You can, of course, just say I DO, but JMO it will take away something for you. Hearing the other person say their vows is such a special moment in time.

Re: vows
I think you should do what you wish, however, regardless of whether FH or I stutter, laugh, burp, fart, or whatever, that moment will be priceless!

Re: vows
We're doing the 'I Do' thing too! I KNOW that I will be crying WAY too much to be able to get out all the 'sappy' vows. Plus, FH wanted to be 'old fashioned' and just have the officient do all the talking and have us respond with 'I Do'. But, we have to recite our ring vows (which are different from each others). I hope I'll be able to get them out!! We'll both be crying so much! I'm kind of looking forward to showing everyone how much of a sappy person I am! I think his family thinks I am a big tuff chick, but I am really a big softie!!
Just go with it! I thought we were one of the only couples doing the old 'I Do', but I'm happy to find out that we're not the only ones.
Good luck!!

Re: vows
I never heard of that, I thought we HAD to repeat the vows. Both FH and I laugh when we are nervous... I am repeating the vows though, this way I can have it on my video.... We decided that we will look at each others left cheek to avoid laughing!
Gee, now you have me worried!

Re: vows
Miss: I think its fine as long as you are okay with it.
But I wanted to add that I am the same way (laughing when nervous) and I didnt laugh at all..in fact, I was crying a little! Its such an emotional time, I really doubt anyone could laugh through it. Just FYI.

Re: vows
OMG! I do that! I always laugh...its the worst thing. You think your bad, when i walk in to a wake, i laugh, how horrible is that?? I dont mean to its just my way to cover up my nervousness. So I was one of the ones to only say I do. Which was fine cause dh was crying so much that I dont think he could have handled anything else.

Re: vows
Hmmm, I always thought you HAD to repeat to. Little did we know I'm not only repeating, but then FH and I will say our own vows to each other as well. We're not sharing them w/each other until our wedding day. I think it will be so special BUT back to YOU, I say do whatever feels comfortable. I agree w/Stef, I don't think you would laugh, b/c it's so emotional, I'm sure. But if you're so nervous about then, then go with your plan. Only you know what makes you comfortable. Whether you do or don't , the moment will be special. Good Luck whatever you decide, it will be a wonderful day.
