Ladies...If you are trying to book a romantic venue for a wedding and or a honeymoon or just a nice vacation and were thinking of using Royal Caribbean, think twice. I just got back from the Bermuda cuise that ended up going to CANADA!!!! There were at least 3 wedding partied on board, 2 of which had to postpone their wedding because their families were waiting for them in Bermuda and we were headed north to CANADA!!!!!! Sorry about that. It's been o the news all day today about not getting any compensation, oh wait, we did get a credit of $45.20. That doesn't even cover a day worth of drinks, especially when they are almost $5.00 a pop. I have much more to tell, but I don't want this to get pulled so if you need to FM me and I'll be happy to divulge my stories.

I was on that ship for our second try at a hm. It was terrible. This is the first time in RC history that it sent a ship to a different port, so don't say its normal for them to do that. Like I said its never been done by them until now. Personally I will never use them again. I felt that were unproffesional about how they handled the situation.
geez OTG... i mention earlier above how you can't predict the weather. i hope you and bri get that dream HM that you deserve.

Re: Voyager of the Seas...UGH!!!!!!
Our neighbor was at a resort on the Mexican Riviera when hurricane Emily hit head on. They spent 3 days in the Cancun convention center with 1500 people, and no luggage.
It is all about how you look at things! I have done 13 cruises with our 14 coming up in October DURING HURRICANE SEASON. I have done 4 before in Hurricane season. Only once have we missed a port because of weather.
At least you still had nice dinners, party atmosphere, drinks, and entertainment!
I love RCCL and will sail them again and again.

I just wanted to say how sorry I am that this cruise did not turn out well considering your problems with mexico and the last hurricane - that is horrible to have two bad experiences. I would not wish that on my worst enemy. Those experiences would turn me off from taking vacations for a while.
I can't say if rccl has ever moved their NY/NJ ships to canada instead of bermuda/caribbean but RCCL has changed ports due to weather many times in the past...so to change a few ports or go eastern rather than western route due to a storm is not unusual. Unfortunately the problem with leaving from NY/NJ area is that due to maritime laws (the jones act - which should be repealed IMO but it has to do with labor laws more so than maritime) they can't just go to maryland, virginia etc, or other states instead of bermuda they must go to foreign ports. So if they can't head to bermuda they are stuck going to canada - this is one reason we have been hesitant to leave from NY, if the weather is bad south they have no choice but to head to canada, when you leave from FL they just change the route to other islands not affected or they go out to sea. As I said I don't know about RCCL going to Canada before from NY/NJ but I do know that Celebrity and other cruise lines have had to do this in the past for storms.
There are a number of very long posts about this cruise on cruisecritic I haven't gotten a chance to read them I would think they would be an interesting read
Again I am sorry you had to go thru this since your first trip was ruined

I heard this on the news. What a terrible disappointment. I am so sorry. Between this story and the story of them cleaning up evidence of a possible murder on board on another trip, give me a break.
