Ladies...If you are trying to book a romantic venue for a wedding and or a honeymoon or just a nice vacation and were thinking of using Royal Caribbean, think twice. I just got back from the Bermuda cuise that ended up going to CANADA!!!! There were at least 3 wedding partied on board, 2 of which had to postpone their wedding because their families were waiting for them in Bermuda and we were headed north to CANADA!!!!!! Sorry about that. It's been o the news all day today about not getting any compensation, oh wait, we did get a credit of $45.20. That doesn't even cover a day worth of drinks, especially when they are almost $5.00 a pop. I have much more to tell, but I don't want this to get pulled so if you need to FM me and I'll be happy to divulge my stories.

Re: Voyager of the Seas...UGH!!!!!!
would you rather sit at port or head staright into a hurricane or cancel it all together. did you have insurance?
it is sad that you couldn't go where you wanted to and Royal Crabbireiean didn't take care of you better
my brother-in-law was on that boat and he had a blast. he went to a wedding while ship was still at port and everything went great.
i'm not defending RC but they have a great cruise line (just by observing others experieces and seeing boats while we were on our Princess cruise).

Re: Voyager of the Seas...UGH!!!!!!
Yes...I thought it was. Sorry if I made you reread it. I met a couple who went to that wedding that happened earlier on the ship and yes they did have a good time. I was talking about the other couples. And for the record, I did have a good time, not because of the cruise line but because of who I was with. And yes, I did have insurance but apparently it doesn't mean anything.
I only wanted to post this for those who were thinking of doing something different. I wanted to give them a review. That's all.

I'm sorry for your bad experience, I would be really upset too. I will never book a cruise during hurricane season!!

Re: Voyager of the Seas...UGH!!!!!!
I am sorry you are disappointed - I read about this on cruise critic but I hate to say it is not unusal - when you go on a cruise you are a slave to the storms etc - they do not want to put people/boats in the way of a storm so they will either 1) not sail at all, 2) shorten the cruise, 3) cruise to no where or 4) change a portion or all of the itinerary.
Sad but they do state in your cruise contract that they have a right to change, cancel etc any itinerary without any compensation. Many people last year had honeymoons that were supposed to be 7 day cruises reduced to as little as 3-5 days with little compensation.
I wasn't able to read the note I saw on cruise critic - but this has happened a number of times in the past when people leave from the northeast. In the past they usually give you two choices - sail but at the itinerary they switch to or not sail at all and get a portion or full refund or other compensation.
Insurance won't cover you unless you chose not to sail at all - then it would depend on what insurance you have and what clauses they have in your policy.
I would be upset too if this happened to me - however it is a chance that you risk when you sail anywhere during hurricane season. Either you sail and make the best of it or cancel and delay/rebook/not cruise at all.
BTW we are watching the weather closely because we have a cruise out of FLL booked a week from today. We are supposed to do the eastern route but if there is a storm we could end up going western or out to sea. This is one reason I don't like to sail from NY as it is not unusual when there is a storm out there for ships to go north rather than south - they almost never do this when you leave from FL.

I said it on the newlywed board. You cant go telling people NOT to book this cruise. Its not their fault there was bad weather.

Just wanted to add that this is the exact reason why they tell you not to plan on getting married on an island while you are cruising as there is a a good chance you might not make the island.

No, it's not their fault that the weather was bad. However, when I went on a Royal Carribean Cruise it was their fault that the all around service was horrendous and so was the food.

Sorry to hear you never made it to your destination. However, I have heard wonderful things about Royal Carribean from several people that have been on cruises - I guess it's just a matter of opinion.

Re: Voyager of the Seas...UGH!!!!!!
This is why you don't book a cruise or a vacation anywhere in the hurricane belt during hurricane season. Sorry to be so blunt about it, but so many people come back from vacations to mexico and such during hurricane season all p'od that they got hit with a storm or that their resort is damaged and they cannot go to their resort. I just don't get that at all. Why are these people in shock ???? I thought it was just common sense, but then again, maybe it's not.

Sorry your trip did not go as planned. I do have to say that I recently gort back from my honeymoon-an Alaskan cruise (Alaska is awesome!) on a Royal Carribean ship and we could not have asked for a better time or service. We are actuallly considering using them again in February. I guess everyone just has different experiences.

I was on that ship for our second try at a hm. It was terrible. This is the first time in RC history that it sent a ship to a different port, so don't say its normal for them to do that. Like I said its never been done by them until now. Personally I will never use them again. I felt that were unproffesional about how they handled the situation.

Re: Voyager of the Seas...UGH!!!!!!
I have been on 3 cruises, two w/ rccl and one w/ carnival. i enjoyed all 3, but will try to stick w/ rccl from now on, I love their ships, service, food etc. I will tell you that on the explorer of the seas there was a small fire above our balcony room (several floors up) and we got some water on our balcony, a little sut (SP) etc. nothing major, but afterward i wrote a letter to them and we ended up getting about $1100 credit towards another booking. so while it wasnt $$ back, I happily booked my next cruise. point being.... write a letter, nice and professional, but explain everything that went wrong from start to finish and you will get compensation for it (obviously not the hurricaine, because as others have said, that is the risk you take vacationing this time of year). good luck

I'm sorry about your vacation. Unfortunately, nobody can control the weather. At least you made the best of it.
