Yes, it's odd, isn't it? depending upon your insurance company and what state you're in BCP might not be covered as contraception. A way around it is that some women prescribed BCP for medical conditions.

Here's a website

Althought non-coverage appears to be disappearing.

Yes, it most certainly is true.

I found out the hard way - my ins company was refusing to pay for one of the b/c I was on...so I switched to another and then shortly before I decided to get off completely, they were refusing to pay for that one. I'd get letters in the mail 'suggesting' which b/c I should go on because they covered those. BTW - I was on b/c for medical reasons...using it as b/c was a secondary/benefit for me.

Isn't it BS though? Cover the pill that has the possibility of causing more pregnancies and stop covering the one that will prevent them.

It's a man's world, for sure........

Yep it is true. Just a pleasant reminder that we live in a male dominated society.

That is absolutely awful. Refusing to pay for something medically necessary, but providing extras like Viagra?!?!?!

for you.

I couldn't even get a pap smear covered 100% with one insurance plan I had. The gyno put something else on the form, so they would cover it. Don't even get me started on this.....
