Who is walking you down the aile?

Having a hard time deciding on if my dad should walk me down the aile alone or both of my parents. I am really close to them both. I really want to include my mom, she is a big part of my life and dads get everything-walking down the aile-the dance.

Any suggestions?

i wanted to have both of them walk me down - they wouldn't have it. We are going with the traditional now.

i'd probably do it like that anyway though. it doesn't take away from dad but gives alot to mom.

me, too. in Jewish tradition/culture, the a lot of the wedding is about family and community, so both parents walk BOTH bride and groom down the aisle to show that they support the marriage and they're basically bringing you to it all together. it's not seen as something you do as bride and groom...it's about the parents more...if that makes any sense?

I was thinking of doing both...i like the tradition of just me and my dad and him giving me away, but both of my parents have played a huge part in my life and who I turned out to be, so I wanted to include my mom as well...aslo fiancee is jewish and walking with both parents is a tradition...i guess ill decide closer to the wedding.

We did it this way too even though we're not Jewish. I thought the symbolism was more significant. I didn't like the idea of being 'given away' because it just felt old fashioned to me. I felt that I was giving myself to this man in marriage. By having both our parents walk with us it does feel more liek a joining of two families whih is really touching. And it gave my FIL a chance to walk soemone down the isle.

I think I'm going to have my dad walk me down the aisle, but then my mom will step forward and join us when we get to the end and they will both give me away.

Thanks. I got the idea from one of my friends who did it at her wedding. I thought it was a good combination of tradition and also of honoring my mom.

I agree, very nice idea! my dad will be walking me down the isle, but I may consider doing that!

For me, I don't really care if he's insulted. Not to sound harsh, but my parents divorced when I was young, so my mom had a much more significant role in raising me and my sister.Truthfully, she deserves to walk me down alone, but I know that would kill my dad, so out of respect, I'll have them both walk me. I also think it's appropriately symbolic of the way I was brought up.

My mon just told me both are walking me down the aisle! So I guess that's what i am doing...when mommy speaks! No I think it's great...Apparently FI's parents want to be walked down by FI's brother (Also best man) so we shall see how this all plays out in the end.

I was considering having my brother escort my mother down right before me...

Is that really bad?

Will my MOH be offended, will his parents be offended?

Not sure on that one yet.

I AM HAVING MY DAD WALK ME DOWN THE AISLE ONLY. I FEEL THAT MY MOM HAS A BIG PART IN THE WEDDING. SHE IS HELPING PLAN IT AND SHE GETS TO GO SHOPPING AND HELP ORGANIZE EVERYTHING. SO I FEEL THAT MY DAD HAS HIS BIGGEST PART AS WALKING ME DOWN THE AISLE. BOTH MY MOTHER AND MY FATHER UNDERSTAND.

I'm actually having that problem also - my Dad passed away this past June and my brother gets first dibs to walk me down BUT if he decides that he feels that he can't do it I was going to ask my FIL to do it. We're very close. I knew him before I knew my FI!! My Mom thinks it should be one of my 3 Uncles but I'm not going to choose one. I'm not any closer to one than another so we're fighting over this whole thing.
