Re: Walking down to Canon in D??

i'm walking down to canon in d... i dont know why but the bridal march was never MY thing-- i like it when i see other brides walk to it but i feel weird when i think about myself walking to it and canon in d gives me goosebumps when i listen to it--it's so beautiful... i think the organist was just going by what traditionally BMs walk down to--but you can walk down to whatever you want, choose a different song for the BM's, have them play a little intro (so people know when to stand) and then canon when you come in...

i've seen it before in movies, on tv, and in person-- it's a beautiful and very elegant choice.

Re: Walking down to Canon in D??

Thanks everyone! That settles it. I think I will walk down to Canon in D, I will have my bridesmaids walk to Jesu, Joy of Man's Desire, and the recessional will be Trumpet Voluntary. I am not a wedding march person either. Thanks!!

I'm walking down to canon in D - it's my favorite - I absolutely love it.

My BP and myself are walking into it.

my BP is walking down to Canon D and I'm walking down to Jesu Joy of Mans Desiring.

I'm using these 2 songs as well...1 for parents and grandparents walking down - another for BP. Then for me I'm going with Trumpet Voluntary...i love that one the best and to me it's got the dramatic feeling!

Re: Walking down to Canon in D??

I walked down to Canon in D. I love it and always wanted it, and am not really a fan of the wedding march. I was not also a big fan of the statement that things had to be 'more dramatic' for the bride. That may be what some people like, but it is not for me, so I just chose what I wanted and the organist played it.

Hi - Are there any brides out there that are walking down the aisle to Pachabel's Canon in D? I was thinking about it and then I spoke to my church organist who said that's really for bridesmaid's and that I should be walking down to something more dramatic. I never really thought about it that way, but what are you other brides doing?? Let me know what you think....Thanks!!

My BMs walked down to Pachabel's Canon in D and I walked down to Bridal Chorus by Wagner.

Re: Walking down to Canon in D??

im not sure what to do either,,,,,,i love canon in d,,, im probably playing that for my BM's but i really want something different . nobody likes my idea including my FH. but i wanted to walk down to the acoustic version of 'with you' by jessica simpson...... everything about my wedding is not traditional so why stick with a traditional song to walk down the isle? i dunno if anyones ever heard it its a really pretty version. what do u think?
ive heard of someone who walked down to 'isnt she lovely' by stevie wonder so my song isnt that far fetched right?

Re: Walking down to Canon in D??

I walked down to Canon in D. I just love that song... every time I'd hear it before I got married I could just close my eyes and picture myself walking down the aisle to that song. You hear it around Christmas time too and it always brings a smile to my face. I don't even remember what song I used for BMs or the recessional..

I've waited 29 years to get married, and although I LOVE Canon in D, I want the drama of the organ playing those first notes of 'Here Comes the Bride'. Whenever I hear it at a wedding, I start crying. I've been to so many weddings... it's MY turn to hear 'Here Comes the Bride' for ME!

Canon in D will be for the Bridal Party.

Exactly!

Re: Walking down to Canon in D??

I did, I did! Actually the bridesmaid did also. The song starts off slow and then builds up so it worked out great.

This is exactly what I am doing. My organist doesn't 'recommend it' but I love it.

Re: Walking down to Canon in D??

BM and MOH are walking down to Canon in D. I think I may just walk down to the traditional 'here comes the bride' song. But I'm not sure yet!
