I was wondering who you are having walk you up the aisle? Traditionally I know it should be my father but I am afraid I won't be able to hold it together... I don't know why but I am thinking if I have both my parents walk me up I might be okay... What are you guys doing?
Also, if I do decide to JUST walk with my dad... who would walk my mom up? I don't have any brothers... Could I pick a male cousin, or should it be one of the groomsmen?
Last one... did you grandparents proceed into the church? I am thinking I want them to, except my moms mom is alive and my dad's dad is... should I have them walk together?
Thanks as always!!

Re: Walking up the aisle questions?
I have been thinking about this lately too. Yes, traditionally, it is your father walking you up the aisle. I have seen weddings where the mother and father walk the bride up the aisle. I definately considered it, but then I thought that I dont want to take anything away from my dad, ya know? I felt like he might be upset if I had my mom and him walk me down the aisle. Its his moment to shine and be proud. So, I decided to just have my dad walk me down the aisle.
My two brothers will be escorting my mom down the aisle. Since you dont have any brothers, it could be anyone you want to walk your mom down the aisle....cousin, groomsmen, whoever you see fit :)

This is a great idea! I also don't have any brothers and will be having a very small BP. So I was thinking of maybe having a cousin or my brother-in-law walk my mom down the aisle.

Re: Walking up the aisle questions?
I wanted both of my parents to walk me, but they were horrified at the notion so I dropped it - super traditional!
I think having a cousin, uncle, or close friend of the family walk your mom down is nice. Are you having a unity candle? TRaditionally, before the ceremony, the moms light the Unity Candle - so that set them apart as 'special' right there.
I I am not having my grandparents escorted down, but they will sit in the front and have special corsages. Grandparents who are deceased will be mentioned in the program.

Re: Walking up the aisle questions?
I am walking with my dad only. I don't have any brothers either but my Brother-in-law (sisters husband) will walk my mom down the aisle.

Re: Walking up the aisle questions?
i think it's fine if both of your parents walk you! actually, i really like the idea. i am being walked by my brother, since my father passed away...
if you walked with your dad, your mom could be escorted by one of the grromsmen, unless she prefers another family member.
i would definitely have the grandparents walk together! i think that's a great idea fh and i only have one grandmother between us, so she is going to be escorted by one of our groomsmen.

I'm having both parents walk me down the aisle. I've seen that at other weddings and think it's really sweet.

Re: Walking up the aisle questions?
I know I will also have a difficult time walking down the aisle with my dad but I am still going to do it. I don't have any brothers either so I will have one of my male cousin's walk her down the aisle.
Unfortunately, none of our grandparents are alive but if they were I would have them walk down in pairs and if one is a widow I would also have another males cousin or a groomsmen walk her down.
Good Luck

Re: Walking up the aisle questions?
My father is walking me down the aisle. - For as close as I am to my mom, I just feel like it's 'his' thing to do...... A close friend of the family I grew up w/ (Like a brother to me) will walk my mom down the aisle. - I assume all of the grandparents will walk in before the parents......no ?

Re: Walking up the aisle questions?
I want both of my parents since they both raised me. In a perfect world I would only have my mom since my dad and I don't see eye to eye, but to my family that is not pc. Anyway. I may need to cut it to only my dad because the aisle at East Wind is very narrow and I don't think that three could fit.
