The Red Velvet Cupcake Debacle...

So I decided last night that I just HAD to make red velvet cupcakes for Christmas Eve. I went to Stop and Shop last night at 9:30 and they did not have the mix there. I decided I would try today. I drove to Waldbaum's, Walmart, King Kullen, 2 other stop and shops, pathmark...you name it I went there! I didnt go to the supermarket (compare foods) around the block because they never have anything I need...

So Id ecided to make them from scratch! Yep, you heard me...SCRATCH! Even the frosting! THe cupcakes are in the oven, when I realize I don't have enough sugar. So i run out to compare foods and leave brad mixing the frosting on the stove. I walk past the baking aisle and there is the flipping red velvet cake mix!!! I couldnt believe it!! Only me!

Oh no, that stinks! I wish you would have posted about this before baking from scratch... I'm pretty sure I have a recipe that changes a box yellow cake into red velvet that I've used before!

That would totally happen to me! I love red velvet cake... I work for Starbucks and we are coming out with them in January!!! All my partners think I'm nuts for being so excited.

I made a Buche De Noel - a traditional French Yule Log Cake for my FH and his traditional Italian Family - why not incorporate something from MY culture?

It was a near disaster that turned out perfectly!!! LOL everything that could go wrong went wrong... it's not exactly easy baking a cake that rolls up like a Yodel... you can't even tell it was a near disaster ;) haha

Oh and I garnished it with Hommade French Truffles.... can't wait!
