wanna start a walking group?

it was mentioned in the weight loss thread so lets actually do this...

Is this something alot of us would be interested in?? We could try to find a location for all of us to meet, or we can try for smaller groups in a bunch of different areas....What do you all think?

Depending on where it is -- I might be up for it. As long as we're walking and not running, I don't do running

i'm in. I'm guessing we'd probably have to have a bunch of them since we are all spread out.

That's a good idea! I need motivation to get myself to take a walk after a long day of work.

Most of the time I manage to get 30 or 40 min on my lunch hour but not all the time.

there is a really nice lake with a long walking trail around it in babylon village...would that be a good spot for anyone?

Would love that, but agree it would have to be several groups due to location of everyone. I'm in Patchogue

I live in Floral Park but work in Garden City. I'd be up for a walk group if we did it at Eisenhower park or somewhere else in the area for those of us around there.

Re: wanna start a walking group?

maybe we can make a poll of possible locations? and when? maybe like on sundays or something (that seemed like the most popular day for gtg's)...

so far i know of:

eisenhower park

the wantagh pkway (through cedar creek park in wantagh/seaford)

the massapequa trail (starts at the train station)

the massapequa trail actually starts further down than the train station. It starts at the pond on merrick road...it adds an extra 1.5 or 2 miles onto the walk, something like that

i would be up for it depending upon the day/time

all of the spots that Jenny mentioned work for me, I work in Garden City so Eisenhower Park is close and the others are close to home

Re: wanna start a walking group?

You can get on the massapequa trail in Massapequa Park as well through Mansfield Park. Or you can enter by the bethpage state parkway.

I don't get home until about 6. But if you ever wanted to do a walk thing around the area I'd be up for it anytime after that. There's lots of places like the tracks at the local schools, or even centenial gardens if there open, I usually walk my dog around the parameter of it.
