Want to have a NYE Wedding

HI! I want to have a NYE wedding, now that Im coming close to booking it for 2010, Im getting a little nervous about everything, what my guests will think, if people will show up, driving after midnight etc. Any ideas or if anyone has ever been to a NYE wedding?

I've never been to one but we almost had one. When we told people about it half of them loved the idea and half of them hated it! I think most people's concerns were with travelling in bad weather rather than it being NYE. I personally think it's a great idea as long as you don't mind sharing your anniversary with a holiday!!!

As far as travelling after midnight concerns, I think having a shuttle to/from the hotel would ease people's minds a bit about that.

There was an 09 NYE bride -- glenisland09 -- you should talk to her!

personally, i love it! i just saw a wedding yesterday on platinum weddings (or another one of the wedding shows) and it looked so nice! they counted down to the new yr and partied all night. what a great way to celebrate imo.

dont worry about what others are gonna think, people will talk no matter what. we're having a friday wedding and people were talking about that so w/e.
if people come to a nye wedding too, theyre gonna have to figure that the reception wont end before midnight. hth kinda...

Hey thanks I will Email glen island. I feel like should i change my date out of nowhere. You are right though people are going to talk and its really annoying, I feel like if i hear one more complaint i will die. Like, i didnt want to invite children and now I am, Our original plan was to get married in Jamaica and pay for the bridal party and they STILL complained. so you can imagine LOL.. I have to start watching wedding shows.

they complained about a free trip to jamaice?!?!?!?!!

it gives them a party to go to! and what better party then a wedding with OPEN BAR?

idiots.

i think its a great idea and if i hadn't been stuck on using october 30th for whatever reason then i would've gone this route.

i personally think a NYE wedding would be really fun.

honestly, no matter when you do it there are going to be people who complain but the people who matter the most will be there no matter when you do it. Just do what makes you and your fh happy!!

i just wanted to add that if you do end up doing the NYE thing, just keep in mind that you're either going to have to do an ealier ceremony with a ton of time in between, or a late ceremony like 7 p.m. so that your reception won't end right after the ball drops!

NYE wedding is great ... almost everyone is off from work the following day so no stress about that ... and it's nice for people to have something really cool to do on new years! Plus, it might be cheaper, depending on which day it falls on

I'd just make sure that you have the RH until after midnight so that you don't have to send people home at 11pm or whatnot

I have been to a NYE wedding!

I thought it was fantastic!!
Instead of having everyone drive she had a hotel block and shuttle. Best Idea! Personally I didn't want to drive home and the hotel was a great idea. She also had a brunch the next morning. That was one of my favorite parts.

I think people will love the idea! It's a great way to celebrate and you know it will be a great time.

FH and I were just at a NYE wedding this past new year's for his cousin. Personally, I am not a fan of the NYE wedding, only because it is difficult for guests. But, the wedding itself was nice.

People like to party on NYE, no bigger party than a wedding!!!

I think it could be a little iffy, so make sure you send STDs and the invites early. Also ask your friends and family since they will be guests.

Thanks for the advice! I think I am also really worried about the couples who dont know anyone else at the wedding showing up because theyre not going to know anyone, all the close friends will probably have a blast. I was going to have a brunch the next day too, and the hotel

I love the idea. I actually wanted to have my wedding on NYE but personally I HATE the cold weather so that is the main reason we didn't do it!!! But I think its great and the people that matter will be there no matter what day it is!!! and then all your family and friends get to celebrate together!!!

My uncle went to a NYE wedding and he said it was a lot of fun!!

i think it would probally be a really fun idea. people will be there that want to be there! if i could do it again, i would probally pick that, day but i'd have to live under a tanning bed for a month before that lol
