That's really scary! They could use that photo of you at a party for advertising. You know, find a pretty girl, take the photo and advertise facebook, and what could you do about it?!?

This isnt about facebook using your info and pics forever though. Facebook is just covering their backside. Because if you post something and it is on your page and gets on one of your friends pages cause you posted a message or photo their too and you deactivate your acct'...the info is still on your friends page. This terms of service protects them from suit so they don't have to worry about taking down every little bit of info that has been posted. and if they miss something it protects them from suit.

True.. but what I think is more worrisome to people is that part that has always been... that they have the right to use your information for whatever purpose they deem necessary.
I think with them tweaking their TOS.. they are also bringing to light the other side of what always was... and people are not happy about that.

If you read the article.. it clearly states they still have rights to your information and are able to still use it regardless of your status (active member or deleted).

My guess is that they did get sued because someone deleted their acct and info was still up on someone else's page. So the person sued FB....Just my guess. And any website you post on has the same type of terms for a temp license.....Im sure even this one if you read it. Otherwise they open themselves up to lawsuits al over the place. I guess I read all this stuff from an attorney point of view and I see why FB changed it....I really don't think the average person has to worry. If FB started using people info in inaaprioate ways they would be out of business very fast
