Warning - for Travelers

MY MOH just got back from a vacation to Vegas. She put her really really really expensive, professional digital camera in her checked luggage (cuz she had some fragile souvenirs in her carry-on) and it was stolen!

Just be careful - the airlines won't reimburse you for things like jewerly, watches, cameras, camcorders, etc. basically anything expensive if it is stolen. She is unable to get any reimbursement from the airline or from the TSA.

As most of us are planning or going on trips soon, wanted to send out the warning!

thanks for the heads up. I've travelled a bunch and learned this lesson early on, if you cant live without it or cant risk losing it... keep it on your person.

thanks for the warning... that is so horrible what had happened to her..
i always take a carry on bag with ALL of my expensive items, or important things.. i dont trust anyone..

i try to never pack anything valueble - but you cant put everything in your carryon. I always seem to be missing underwear - my friends and I swear theres a panty thief working at the baggage check in MacArthur!

Thanks for the tip - I'm always nervous about that kind of stuff so I just carry it on...isn't that terrible who can you trust?

That's horrible!

As a rule, I try to carry on valuable stuff--especially cameras. It scared me because when we went to pick up our luggage from our HM, we saw some bags with locks that were broken.

My co-orker's baggage was never found. And, he had to fill out a form stating everything that was of value. I don't even though if he ever was re-imburse for his things. But, yes you have to be very careful with the airlines.
