Warning: Votive Palcecards

Warning: Votive Palcecards

are the BIGGEST PAIN IN THE ARSE !!!!!
I quit!!!!
It is NOT as easy as printing the names on vellum and then just wrapping around the glass of the candle. The glass of the candle is curved....(How curved? Curved enough to drive me maddddd!!) and this makes the entire candle look uneven and a bit messy~ especially towards the back where the pieces don't meet up evenly.

I'd put in the effort of individually perfecting each one if I didn't think it would still look a bit cheap at the back of the candle where it is adhered on.....but it does.

Next step~~ folded placecards with and orchid design...Back to the craft store in Manhattan!

I know they look beautiful when perfected....PAY someone to do them or find a templete that is CURVED so that you wont have the same issues! I couldn't find one but you may have better luck

Re: Warning: Votive Palcecards

I've seen a template that's curved online somewhere--didn't bookmark it, sorry, as I wasn't planning on doing them. I saw ones at Michaels that were precut, so I assume they would fit, so others could try those. Or, you could buy votives with straight sides. The ones I bought on eBay are straight up and down cylinders, they're not tapered.

OMG I know what you mean! Not about the votive, but the DIY place cards..
girl I've been cutting paper flowers (120 to be exact for dayssss)
I gotta ship em to the calligrapher, then when I get them back I gotta hot glue stems to them.

Why do we do this to ourselves?! My mom's like why don't you just use regular place cards?

Good Luck, I'm sure they will come out fine!

So sorry you are having a hard time, hope you find a solution. Have you tried cutting the edges on an angle, like a trapezoid? That might help.

I'm using the place cards my hall provided. AND.....FINALLY I'm not stressed about a DIY project. Just have to have them printed

Re: Warning: Votive Palcecards

I found the vellum wraps at Michaels work the best.....

I bought a package this weekend to try them out and they worked perfectly!!

I am not found of the platinum heart design on top so I am glueing a leaf over it....

The hearts are pretty but I don't have anything platinum or silver in my colors....or else I would def. do the hearts

Here is the link....they are made by Gartner studios and there is a link to their templates on the package!!

Good luck!

If you buy the 'velium wraps ' that are made for candles the uneven ness wont happen,, they are pret cut , pre curved, just have to add names & print,,

I was trying this for a few hrs..figured if I could get one down then I could use it as a kind of stencil for the others....the angles weren't consistent though

im actually doing them myself
im buying the vellum and on word im inserting the figures using 'draw object'
then putting a text box on top of it to add the names
then cutting out each figure

figures look like this shape

I saw the vellum wraps at Michales but I didnt like preprinted hearts in them so scrapped that idea and now I am just so frustrated I am mentally 'done' with the project!
I hope you guys get them all hooked up cause they look hot when done!
Thanks for all the advice!
