Was gratuity automatically added to the cost of your limos?
We were about to sign a contract for our limo when we noticed that they automatically add a 20% gratuity to the contract price. This wasn'tsomething the vendor had discussed with us, and I'd like to know if its the norm. We obviously plan to give a gratuity, but not necessarily 20% if the service isn't good. Thanks so much, ladies.

Re: Was gratuity automatically added to the cost of your limos?
20% gratuity is the norm with limo companies, and if on your day, you feel the driver(s) were excellent, you can give more.

Wow! You guys were fast! Thanks for your help. Its so frustrating, every time I finally find a vendor I like and can fit into my budget I am caught off guardat the end by something like tax or gratuity...you'd think I'd catch on. I think I'm in denial!

Re: Was gratuity automatically added to the cost of your limos?
I know its customary and all but I find it to be a load of crap that it is included on contracts. So now, the limo company can show up an hour late or just plain s u c k and its ok because the driver already got their tip. I hate that!

I agree w/Debbie. This is customary, but its a load of ***T. With the problems that we had w/our limo comp on our wedding day, we definitely would not have tipped them, but what could we do? Just make sure that your limo comp is reputable. Do a Dunn & Bradstreet report if poss.Good luck!

Re: Was gratuity automatically added to the cost of your limos?
Hi, I just wanted to add my two cents.I used to work for a limo company, that shall remain nameless, but gratuity was always included as an industry standard. My boss also made me tell people that if they wanted to tip extra on top of that, it is also appreciated.
the truth is, most limos compnaies don't actually own all of the limos they contract, I think we had three limos of our own. Limo companies sub-contract out the business to other companies. The company that does the job gets the actaully fare and the company you hired gets the gratuity. It is strange, but because the driver may or may not work for the company you contracted, that leads to all sorts of problems.
