Was he crazy to do that?

Was he crazy to do that?

I broke up with someone the day before I met the man. We'd be on and off for eight years and so clearly this guy had been a huge part of my life -- I was really frightened that our time together would hang over every relationship after him.

All I wanted after our break up was for him to live a HAPPY life without me.

He reads my columns sometimes; I'd get an email here and there about it, but nothing huge.

Until last night - he sent out a mass email to let everyone know that he got engaged last week, complete with pictures.

I have a huge headache. I guess that while I wanted him to be really happy, I kind of never wanted to know.

Granted, I ran into him one night at a bar a couple of months after my engagement and drunkenly and excitedly told him about my upcoming wedding. And that was only a little over a year after we broke up.

SO - yeah. I'm just crazy for feeling so strange, right?
eta - I know how selfish this sounds and I kind of hate myself for it

You're not crazy- it's your feelings. Crazy would be trying to break up his wedding. You had a history with this guy, or course you don't want to have an updtaed image of him marrying someone else.

In your mind, he will pine for you forever!!!
Duh!

I feel worse.

I really never wanted that.

Part of me is happy for him.

i dont think he is crazy - i think he is excited.

i dont think your crazy for being upset. i cant imagine my ex's being marriage material for someone else.

really though - its one of those things that you will never be able to do anything about. go ahead and feel sad - cause in a week it will pass and you;ll be over it.

sorry you had to hear what you never wanted too.

I want MOST of my exes to find peace and happiness in their lives.

I don't want to think about what that happiness is - or if that happiness might be better than my happiness. It probably ISN'T better - but I'm a psychopath and just a whiff of what certain people are up to leads me down some path in my imagination where they and their lives become bigger and better and more momentous by the second.

I guess it comes down to the fact that we all want people to be happy - we just don't necessarily need to see the evidence.
