Was it worth it?

Re: Was it worth it?

I think our wedding was definitely 'worth it', after all it's our day and any amount of $$ is worth it. But I know we could have had an equally amazing wedding day with less than half of what we spent. DH wanted me to have the 'big' wedding, he thought I would regret it someday if we didn't. Maybe he's right, but I still think I'd rather have the house.

worth every penny (and thats a whole lot of pennies!)

it was fabulous!

-not to say a smaller wedding wouldn't also be fabulous. I wouldn't have minded have less guests (225 ) but I can look back and appreciate my spurges, not regret them.

got married in september and although I am a newleywed in the most real sense, I can honestly say yes!!! Worth everypenny. My memory of the day is so crisp and perfect! I will be able to save gorgeous pics and scrapbook all my material. I have bever had so many people in one plce all focusing on me. All family and friends together celebrating you . Life is too short. We could get the house in a few years. plus, home is what you make of it and even in our cozy rental apartment, I am softening it up and making it warm with all our lovely, brreathtaking wedding pics!!! DO IT!!!

Re: Was it worth it?

i have a very big family and so having a small wedding was not an option for us. we saved where we could...the only vendor, I went all out with was my photographer.

good luck with everything.

The best thing we did was wait to get married. We started dating at the age of 18 and got engaged in 2001 at the age of 25. We had a 2 year engagement and were married on July 4, 2003.

By waiting, we were able to have the best of both worlds - a beautiful wedding and a home in a wonderful area.

We did have help along the way.

I miss all the planning and now that my big day has come and gone, I am a little sad. I look at my proofs and I see how fast the day went.

If you can afford to have the type of wedding you want, then go for it. But at the same time, having a house is so important. You can have an incredible wedding without spending a huge fortune. See lots of vendors and compare prices.

It was worth every penny. My DH and I did it totally on our own. We chose Flowerfield which was expensive, but we were treated like royalty and our guests were too. Flowerfield and all of our other vendors made our wedding magical. We are so proud of our wedding and even though we killed ourselves to pay for it (I cried alot) it was amazing and SO worth it. I would do it again.

It was worth EVERY PENNY I spent.
If I could do it all over again, I would do exactly the same.

We've been having the same doubts about 'is this worth it'... we actually only put down a deposit on the hall and nothing else yet so we are thinking... should we really go ahead and book anything else... or should we step back, evaluate everything and decide to do something very small and intimate... I've been dreaming of my wedding day all my life so it's a hard choice but I think we should go for the big day... even though we are going to be broke doing so... the next 9 months there are going to be a lot of peanut butter & jelly sandwiches eaten

Re: Was it worth it?

we are having a much bigger wedding than we at first thought - fh's mom passed away last nov (the day after one year from our date) and all of friends and famiy really came out in full force - people we hadn't seen in years came out from all over to help us through it...we consdiered cancelling the wedding but didn't b/c it was his m om's dream adn we also realized that unfortunately, we don't see our whole families and friends as often as we should - only at weddings and funerals now - so we thought about it and realized we wanted a nice happy occasion that we could remember forever. it is not easy to save, but it can be done...in the end, we thought it would be worth it - and now w/ 36 days to go, we are starting to get excited (well, despite the other post i just did this mornign aout fh's aunt)

good luck!

That's something I am hoping will happen to us--that we will get back a lot more than we expect, but I don't want to count on that.

Seeing more catering halls tomorrow and Monday....
