so i just sent this email to my 'best friend' who is NOT my moh- and I am nervous now!! was this bad?
hey kimmie- i was talking to alley re. my party and she mentioned that you may not be coming because dave wasn't invited- huh? when i spoke to you about it, i told you the reason we couldn't invite everyone's boyfriend/girlfriend- neither of evan's sisters were even invited with their boyfriends.as i told you, the only ones we invited are people who live together or are engaged. we only invited our BEST friends...and at the time you seemed fine with it- you said you understood. i also told you that if it was a big issue b/c you guys were going to that wedding then that is another thing and you can bring him. i am just confused honestly because i just figured of course you would come NO MATTER WHAT- because you are my friend- and then i have to hear from someone else that you might not- if anything i should be hearing it from you!! the whole point of this party was so that our families and closest friends could all meet to celebrate...
i am just really upset and hurt because this is supposed to be a joyous time in my life and instead i am feeling like this-i am sorry if this email seems mean but i just am very upset and feel it is only fair to let you know how i feel.
love chloe
ETA: when I say 'going to that wedding' they were 'thinking about' going to a wedding in rhode island that weekend and would come to my party on the way back...

Re: was this bad??
That seems fine to me!!!! A nice follow-up phone call would also be good tho, just to make sure she got it and so you can talk 1-on-1 with her. She has to understand it's not personal, you have to pay for these things per person and if she brought her bf then everyone would bring their significant others, and that doubles the numbers!!

I don't see anything wrong with esp since you had already explained to her why not everyone was being invited with a guest...and she was fine with it (or so you thought)...

I remember you were having issues with this right? I think I remember you venting about her bf and if that's right what I am thinking than you worded it in a real good way....

I think it is perfectly fine and since you already explained it to her she shouldn't have a problem with it and your right you should let her know how you feel and she should be telling you not someone else

Re: was this bad??
I see nothing wrong with what you wrote but as you see with posts on here people tend to take things the wrong way because the tone is imagined not heard. So I also agree give it a follow up call just to be sure she understands were your coming from.

I agree that you should follow up with a phone call - when it comes to these things, people get very easily offended and can take things the wrong way.

Re: was this bad??
I think it's fine. MAybe she didn't truly understand the bf gf. FH and I dated for a long tim,e before we were engaged, and we didn't go anwyehre unless the other was invited. So i'm just imagining myself in her position. I wouldn't want to call someone to ask if I could bring FH, but I wouldn't want to go either. Has she been with her bf for a long time?
Anyway I think your letter was perfectly fine! I hope it works out
ETA: Just more about putting myself in her shoes, it seems like you said if ti was on the way back from the wedidng, then she could bring her bf? If I were her I'd b like 'then why can't I bring him anyway?' I'm not saying you'tre wrong in any way. Just saying..maybe you should call her and find out if she's really ok with it. maybe she's more serious with this guy than you realize

Stand your ground girlie - if you allow her to bring her BF then it's not fair to others who want to bring their SO (significant other.)
don't allow someone into intimidating you into doing something - you have enough to worry about right now.
A TRUE FRIEND will understand and make it a point to be there for you - with or without a 'sidekick.'

Thanks for the pep talk!! I called her before- I know she was home- and she didn't answer - also tried her cell- left a message on both so we'll see!
