My mom called me to say she thinks it's a better idea if my shower is not a surprise and claims that she's been to many showers that were not a surprise -- meaning, the bride was told when it would be and even showed up before the other guests to greet everyone. She doesn't plan to tell me any incidentals of the planning, but wants to tell me when it will happen. I think she also figures it'll save me from figuring it out on my own and from showing up not dressed up!
So, was your shower supposed to be a surprise, or were you supposed to know? (regardless of whether or not you figured it out!)

Mine isn't a surprise. I know the date, but none of the details. I wind up working unexpectedly on the weekends a lot and my mom was terrified that I would call that morning and say I was on my way to work rather than wherever she pretended I was going. I'm not really a big fan of surprises so I am glad it worked out this way.

Mine was a surprise and boy did they get me . After the initial shock I was glad they surprised me.

I tell people all the time that I don't care if it's a surprise or not. But whenever I say that the response is usually not good.

My sister keeps dropping hints. I know she is planning it now. I would prefer it to not be a surprise because on weekends, I usually have lots of planning to do for school and would need to know in advance so I have something to do with kiddies on Monday.

mine was suppossed to be a surprise, except my MIL put it on her calendar in the kitchen- So I knew, but didnt tell anyone but FH and MOH that I knew... afterwards, I told my mom and BMS. I didnt want to ruin it for them...they wanted it to be a surprise
My MOH knew about her shower-because of work scheduling- it was fine- a bit awkward when she walked in because she wanted to 'pretend ' she didnt know- but everyone knew she knew- so it was weird yelling surprise---

My shower was supposed to be a surprise, but I figured it out because everyone was making a big deal about this birthday party I had to go to. So I made sure I was all dressed and pretty.

Well my shower was 'planned' for a date and I was told about it. So I had planned to get my nails hair and everything else done beforehand and be ready... well they surprised me a weeks before my 'planned' date
So I thought I knew when it was... but I really didnt.

Mine was not a surprise. I wanted to know the date and time so I could be prepared. Since most of my friends and family are mostly late to any event, I got there on time and greeted people. It was the best thing that I did. Otherwise I would have had no time to interract with any of the guests.
I sincerely had an awesome time but realized how quickly time flies.
