WASNT POSTED TO HAVE TOTAL BELIEF!!!!!!ARTICLE RE BIRTH CONTROL......

****I POSTED THIS ONLY BECAUSE OF MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH MY BC USAGE.....THE PATCH*****I JUST TURNED MY COMPUTER ON AND NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A DEBATE ON FACT OR FICTION OF THIS LETTER...HEY I AM ALMOST 40 YRS OLD AND FACT OR FICTION HAS BEEN A PART OF MY LIFE FOR A LONG TIME****I'M NO FOOL*****NO YOU CANT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU SEE ON THE INTERNET***JUST AS THOUGH YOU CANT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ IN THE PAPERS OR HEAR ON THE NEWS***THE MEDIA TELLS YOU WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO KNOW,,,,,,ENOUGH TO LEAVE YOU IN SUSPENSE.****LOOK WIKIPEDIA HAD SINBAG THE COMEDIAN DEAD****NO TRUTH TO THAT AT ALL.

I CANT TOTALLY APOLOGIZE FOR POSTING THIS EMAIL LETTER I GOT FROM A FRIEND OF MINE OF WHOM MAY BE TALKING ABOUT HER FAMILY MEMBER IN TRUTH***WHO KNOW'S***BUT AFTER READING SOME OF THE POST, MAYBE SHARING INFORMATION OF THE SORT WAS NOT A GOOD IDEA. ITS NICE TO KNOW WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS AND VIEWS.************NO PUN INTENDED

I USE TO WEAR THE PATCH AND STOPPED WHEN I NOTICED BRUISES AND BLOD CLOT SPOTS ON MY LEG ABOVE AND BELOW THE ORTHO EVRA PATCH.....I GET VERY CONCERNED WHEN I SEE THESE ARTICLE......WHAT IS GOING ON?

'Recently this past week, my cousin Nicole Dishuk (age
31...newly grad student with a doctoral degree about to start her new
career as a Doctor...) was flown into a nearby hospital, (She lives in
Penn. ) because she passed out.

They found a blot clot in her neck, and immediately took her by
helicopter to the ER to operate. by the time they removed the right
half
of her skull to relieve the pressure on her brain, the clot had spread
to her brain causing severe damage.

Since last Wednesday night, she was battling.. they induced her
into a coma to stop the blood flow, They operated 3 times..

Finally, they said there was nothing left that they could do..
they found multiple clots in the left side of her brain.. the swelling
wouldn't stop, and she was on life support..

She died at 4:30 yesterday. She leaves behind a
husband, and a 2 yr old Brandon and a 4yr old Justin.. The CAUSE of
DEATH - they found was a birth control she was taking that allows you
to
only have your period 3 X's a year...
They said it interrupts life's menstrual cycle, and
although it is FDA approved... shouldn't be - So to the women in my
address book - I ask you to boycott this product & deal with you rag
once a month - so you can live the rest of the months that your life
has
in store for you.

*Please send this to every woman you know - you may save
someone's life... Remember, you have a CYCLE for a reason!

Sincerely,
Jennifer Roselli '

Re: ARTICLE RE BIRTH CONTROL......

That's really sad. But it's true I've heard of many cases where birth control causes blood clots. I've heard especially with the patch. Not in everyone of course but I guess some people are especially prone to it. Just like you, I was having clots from BC too, chest pain and swelling, I'm not on it anymore thank goodness!

Birth control does cause clots-the risk is even greater if you SMOKE and are on BC. I am not on it because I smoke. Even when I quit, I won't use it. Fh agrees-he says it is unnatural to stop your menstrual cycle and he is right.

Re: ARTICLE RE BIRTH CONTROL......

yeah, I have never trusted the pharmaceutical companies and their tinkering with women's hormone levels.
You would never believe how amazingly complicated the endocrine system is.... they are just guessing at what they are doing.... not even close to truly understanding.

What's the matter with the good ol' rubber? What, it's a hassle, or the guy is whining.

Let's weigh the options

whiny guy* or blood clots or other health problems.... sorry guy, I can do without

(*Must declare my FH never whined.... he's golden... )

to put it in perspective, scientifically, we're much closer to understanding cancer

Re: ARTICLE RE BIRTH CONTROL......

Hoax. What most people don't understand is that the 'period' you get when you take birth control pills isn't a period at all. You don't need it, and the only reason that most birth control is designed with the sugar pill week is to make women feel better. It was a marketing decision to let women have a 'period' on the pill, not a scientific or medical one. When the pill was first introduced, it was decided to make the pill with a week of sugar pills because they thought many women wouldn't go on the pill unless it was like that--personally, I think it was a decision made by men. I only get a period every few months myself, because of severe menstrual migraines. Doctors have been prescribing the pill without the sugar pill week for a very long time for women like me, and to women with severe endometriosis. It's not a new thing with Seasonale and the other types.

I don't understand why people write up this crap and put it on the internet. I don't blame people for passing it on, it's scary and they only want to help others. But it even sounds like a hoax to me.

I get very wary of these kinds of letters myself. I did a search and came up with nothing but it sounds like bullshiit to me as well.

LADIES - DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ!!!! Seriously, If you don't know the person then you have nothing to go on in terms of truth. There are so many people out there that just LOVE to terrorize us. Birth control IS safe and stopping your period is NOT unhealthy for every one. There are many risks when you take ANY kind of drug and for those of you that don't HAVE to take BCP you are VERY VERY lucky. The girl that died - if she did - died from blood clots due to taking some form of BCP. That is not uncommon - well, the blood clots part.

You don't know this ladies medical history, you don't know WHAT form of BCP she was taking, you don't know what else she was taking that could have contributed to the blood clots - there is so much you DON'T know that to assume that is was just the BCP that caused the blood clots and ultimately her death is wrong.

Just be careful. Don't be so anxious to jump on every story and take it for truth. Do some investigating yourself. Do some reading and call your Dr.'s. Yes, docs do make mistakes but they have access to much more relevant and up to date information than you do. MANY MANY women take these meds. We would ALL hear about it if it was truly causing that big of a problem. Remember, people can die from all kinds of things - the body is quite complex!

It might be. Every different version of the Pill causes different side effects in different women. I tried three different kinds of the Pill before I settled on the NuvaRing, which I love. Very few side effects, and no pills to take! Why don't you ask your gyn to switch you to something else? There is no reason to suffer side effects from the Pill considering there are so many on the market. And most gyns even have plenty of samples, so you could most likely score a few months free.

Thanks for posting that. I had just woken up when I posted earlier and didn't get out all that stuff.

It's very true. All medications have side effects, and the Pill does cause blood clots in certain people, especially in women who smoke and and have other risk factors. It's something you need to discuss with your doctor. Don't get your medical information from anonymous postings on the Internet!

I just stared ortho tri cyclen lo this week, and I've been sooooo nauseous! I'm actually supposed to take my next pill right about now, and I just can't bring myself too! I read that this sometimes passes after 1-3 packs, but that's 1-3 months! I don't know if I can deal with feeling queezy for that long!
So far no mood swings (or at least no more than usual!)

I got nauseous on ortho tri-cyclen too. It took about 3 months to go away, but I switched over to Yasmine instead. I am having no side-effects, other than being a bit more emotional and it's working great. If you don't like it, you can always talk to your doctor about switching to something else.

Re: ARTICLE RE BIRTH CONTROL......

For all of you non-believers :

At the age of 23, after being on the patch for a month, then orth tri cyclen lo for a year...here's what happened to me.

I had not been feeling well for about a week,,,just dizzy, and not like myself..hard to explain..being that I have always had sinus trouble, I assumed that it was sinus related. Long story short: I'm in sports authority one day , actually feeling a little better...then BAM! I pass out cold....I come to, and my face, hands, arms and legs are going numb. Scarily numb. My FH had to actually carry me out to the car, then carrry me into the hospital. All this time, I'm thinking that this is how I;m gonna die..that's the way that I felt. After 4 hours in the ER, and several tests later, they could find nothing wrong with me...and sent me home. The next day, I still was not feeling right, and went to see the neurologist..long story short, I had a MINI STROKE!!! The doc thought it was most likely linked to the pill, but could not prove it...anyhow, I stopped taking it instantly, and never started again. IMO- the stuff is evil. It's a personal choice, and I personally choose not to use it. Anything unatural that you put into your body, IMO, is risky!

My fh doesn't whine, we've used condoms for 9 years! However your question about what's wrong with just using condoms. The three trips to planned parenthood when the bastards broke is why especially this close to the wedding (the last 8 months or so) I've gone back on BC. Condoms aren't fool proof and even with perfect use they aren't as effective as BCP although I do know and personally don't like hormonal BCP either but then if you rely on things like spermacide that's not better either (have you read the studies that the WHO did with sex workers in Europe and non-9 increasing the transmission of HIV).
