Water broke from amniocentisis
Has anyone else had this happen or know of anyone who did and had a successful preganacy without fluid in the sac? I am just starting my 21st week of pregnancy. I had my amnio done last friday and then on Saturday afternoon, when I stood up, my water broke. DH and I rushed to the hospital where I was admitted for a week.
I am finally home from the hospital and can talk with my LIW friends again thanks to my DH who hooked me up with the laptop to talk while in bed.
The hole from the amnio which caused my water to break still has not healed and the fluid has not built back up yet. There really is nothing more they can do for us in the hospital. We are taking it week by week at this point and hopefully the hole will seal and fluid will build back up. Of course, the longer we go, the chances suck. I am staying in bed drinking to stay hydrated to reduce the risk of contractions starting or getting an infection.
We are checking into other options at other hospitals to try and find doctors who are willing to help us keep the baby and try to have a healthy baby. There are so many issues with deformities and such since I am in a very critical period for development of the lungs and brains at this stage.
My sister has found an article on a doctor at NYU who has performed surgery to repair the hole but it can be risky. We do not know at this point if it is still done since the article is from 2001 but she left a message and hopefully I will have good news this week that we can try and get that done!
I've also heard about filling the sac with fluid, but when I asked my Dr. at LIJ, they won't do it because of the added risk of infection from an outside foreign object into my body.
DH and I want to give this baby any fighting chance as the heartbeat is so healthy and our baby is still active inside.
If anyone knows of someone who had a similar experience and can point me in a direction, I would love to hear from you!
Thanks!
