Waterfront Reception Sites NEEDED!!
Ladies...brides...newleyweds...ANYONE....help me! My fiance` and I are trying to find caterers/restaurants that are on the water that can hold the ceremony as well as the reception. We are having a small reception, around 70-80 people. We are running into some problems such as some places have a mininum of say 120 people to use their waterfront facility or that it`s just too far to travel to (Sag Harbor, Hamptons, Montauk). We live in Farmingdale. Traveling anywhere from Oakdale, Bayshore, Freeport, Oyster, Glen Cove and such is not a problem though. So in closing, if any of you have heard or been to waterfront places that we are looking for, let us know who they are if you don`t mind. Thanks.

Odds are you will have to settle for a night other that Saturday - Possibly a day wedding or a Fri. night or Sun. afternoon. Check out either The Riviera in Massapequa or The Swan Club in ROslyn. Best of luck! ;-)

The Swan Club has a waterfront view. I beleive they have a room for smaller parties. They are pretty reasonably priced too. Good Luck in your search.

The only one I could think of is the Port Jefferson Country Club. For a Friday evening the minimum is 100 people. I know it's over the amount of people, I just thought I'd mention it. Good luck! You can take my old wedding date if they still have it. 8-16-02

Is Stonybrook too far? If not, you should look into The Old Field Club. It's located on an inlet of LI Sound, and they're min. is 100, and you can have an outdoor ceremony on the water. We're having our reception there in October.

Waterfront Reception
We had our reception at John Anthony`s on the Water in Babylon, and everything was great. They have 3 rooms. For our wedding, we used the upstairs room .. was great .. private and out of the way from the other party. For the bathrooms, guests have to go downstairs to the main lobby, right past the glass doors of the other party. I liked being out of the way of the traffic. The downstairs party had their cocktail hour in our room, while we had our cocktail hour in the lounge, the third room. When we booked for our wedding, we were told they sometimes book that small room for parties, so there was a chance there would be a third party going on, but on our day, it was just us and one other party. The start times for the two receptions were staggered by a half-hour, which is their norm. Anyway, I believe they had said that small room seats 125, so maybe you could check that out. If it seats 125, I`m sure the minimum would have to be under 100, if they actually do rent it out for weddings. It is also set off to the side of the lobby, on the opposite side of the bathrooms. If you walked straight into JA`s lobby from outside, the lounge would be off to the left, the main downstairs room immediately in front of you, and the bathrooms just a few steps to your right. There is a deck off that small room, overlooking the great south bay, but there is no dance floor. We found their prices extremely reasonable, and the cocktail hour was HUGE! People couldn`t get over just how much food was offered. You might also want to look into Sunset Harbor Inn, in Patchogue ... if I recall the name correctly. Anyway, this is also a place on the water, and I believe it`s smaller than the typical places. I searched yellowpages.com, and their phone number is 631-289-2582, with an address of 90 Colonial Drive, Patchogue. Maybe if you`re flexible with your wedding day, date and time, you could find some of the bigger places will be willing to give you a room with a smaller minimum. Good Luck!

I want to thank you all who took the time to respond to my question. It was very helpful. The Port Jefferson Country Club was one that I completely forgot and I`ve been there and the view is out of this world. When going to their website, it seems though you need 125 people to book. Something in my original post that I covered about troubles I`m running into. But I`m going to call them anyway and see if I can work something out. But again people...I sincerely thank you for your help in responding and if you think of any more ideas/places, please drop them here. All is appreciated. Gimpybride

I am having my reception at the Sail Harbor in Bayville. They are close to the water, and the views there are beautiful. You should definitely check them out. They are also flexible on their minimums, depending on when you are getting married. We are getting married on a Sunday afternoon in late March. We were able to get our minimum for 75 people. Lots of luck!

Perfect for what you are looking for..
We were married in September at The Beach Club in Lake Ronkonkoma. We were married outside in the gazebo looking right at the water. Our cocktail hour was also outside and the grounds are beautiful. The Beach Club is somewhat smaller than other catering halls and is geared toward a smaller amount of guests. We had 75 people and it was the perfect size. They only do one wedding at a time so all the attention is focused on you. We live in Oyster Bay and The Beach Club is only about 1/2 hour away. The food was awesome, the service impeccable and I would not have changed a single thing. If you would like any additional info or some pics let me know and I can send them to you.

We're getting married at John Anthony's, and they were flexible with the minimum for day weddings. If you would be interested in a day wedding they would be worth talking to. Good luck!

Waterfront Reception Sites NEEDED!!
I'm having my ceremony and reception at Sans Souci of Sea Cliff (town next to Glen Cove) It's an old Gold Coast Mansion. They do only one wedding at a time. The ceremony can be outdoors or indoors by all these bay windows, both overlooking the water. They hold max 175. We guaranteed 125, but I've heard that they do weddings under 100 people as well. They are working on their website, so I think it's still down. www.sanssoucicaterers.com Their phone number is 516-671-0200. Hope that helps!

We paid $49.95 per person for a Sunday afternoon wedding in September. We did book it in 2000 so the prices may be a bit higher now. However in comparision to the other places that we looked at at that time they were far less than anywhere else. The food and service were beyond compare and we are still getting compliments from everyone who attended. You won't be disappointed.Welcome New Vendors
