I just recently got engaged, May 19, 2011 . We are a non denomination couple and plan on having our ceremony in the same location as our wedding. My vision is the white folding chairs and a beautiful gazebo of some sort with water crashing in the background. Sand would be a plus, but it's not a necessity.
I am really excited to start my venue search. I've already checked out websites, and my next step is to start calling the places I like. I have my heart set on a few places based on their photos. Does anyone have any reviews about Land's End, Sayville or Lessing's Waterfront Weddings (The Pavilion at Sunken Meadow)
We're paying for the wedding all our own. So we can't afford a super pricey wedding. But I won't skimp on the food quality and the waterfront visions. Those are necessities!
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much : )

Re: Waterfront Wedding...PLEASE HELP?!?
Crashing...sorry! We got married at Gurney's in Montauk and it was absolutely perfect! It's a little out of the way but most of our guests made a weekend out of it and loved it. We got married in May so it wasn't peak season yet and not too expensive for our guests to stay overnight. We got married in the sand with the waves crashing in the background - just as you described. Ginny, John and Phyllis are the wedding coordinators there and they are super helpful. You can see our video at http://pennylaneprod.com/blog/2010/04/20/jennifer-and-michael-wedding-feature-fillm/
I know it's a little far but it feels like you're in another world. Our guests all felt they were on vacation and everyone was able to just relax and totally enjoy themselves!
Happy planning and best of luck to you!

Re: Waterfront Wedding...PLEASE HELP?!?
Lands End was my 1st choice....$125pp on a Friday night in May & $145pp on a Saturday in May +tax & 20% service charge!
We are paying for our wedding & there was just NO WAY we could make that work! :(
Absolutely gorgeous though. Gazebo & white chairs. Small beach & jetties for pics!
I miss it thinking about it :(
Also check out The Riviera in Massapequa & Chateau La Mer in Lindenhurst. Def ALOT cheaper with a similar feeling!

Re: Waterfront Wedding...PLEASE HELP?!?
I wanted the waterfront wedding myself but I wanted something fancier and the water and I just was not happy with any of the options. So I opted for a November wedding since it was more reasonable. I have looked at the following:
Lands End
Captain bills- my friend got married here, it has huge windows overlooking the water and seperate from the restaurant
Lombardis on the sound- beautiful views but i thought the ballroom was to small for our amount of people .
Lombardis on the bay- i agree with jenni its gorgeous
Venetian Yacht club - upstairs room is stunning
Chateau la mer - in lindy very nice as well. The wedding of the year was there and they did a really nice job!

Re: Waterfront Wedding...PLEASE HELP?!?
I got married at the Lands End exactly 2 years ago today and it is one of the most gorgeous places I have ever been to. The food was amazing and so was the location. We got married on site outside on the water and our pictures are amazing. The number of people invited will determine the price so the more people you guarantee the less tha price per person - we had 220 people and the room was not over packed at all. I also went to a wedding this past weekend at the Cheateu Le Mar in farmingdale which was also on the water and beautiful - food was really good too - hope this helps.
