HOW WAS IT?!

Re: Watermill Brides.....

I went to the Watermill last night for a friend's wedding.. it was raining and the ceremony and the cocktail hour were supposed to be outside and was inside instead. I took a walk later on to check out the grounds and it was very pretty. if the ceremony itself would have been outside, it would have been really nice.. but even inside, it was in the downstairs room, it was really pretty. they had a string trio for the ceremony which I really liked and there were candles lit..

The cocktail hour in my opinion didn't have enough food and I personally didn't care for what they had.. but others said it wasn't so bad.. the food at the reception was interesting.. FH had the Surf and Turf which I liked and I had a chicken dish, which I didn't like so much.. there was also a veal, a stuffed porkchop and a glazed halibut..

there was also a viennese hour, which I have to say had a choclate fountain (my favorite)!!

They had a band which was stuck on the 70's from all the music that they played and it seemed like they took an awful lot of breaks.. personally we all didn't really enjoy the bad.. it was tailored for much older people..

We had a ball though..

i've gone to a few showcases they had there where they served a cocktail hour feast and was wonderful tasting as well as tables and tables of foods.. plus they give us food anytime we ask for it and each time it is delicious.. i have not had one bad experience there yet and we have been there numerous times. I still love them and my experiences.

I went to a wedding a couple of weeks ago at Watermill (forgot to post Sorry ladies) ~ the outside Cocktail hour was awesome ~ that was soooo beautiful...The food was yummy! we were lucky we had nice weather. The food choices was pretty interesting...my FH had surf & turf (I am sad to say this) but the lobster was very tough/very chewy (they must have kept it under those heat lamps to keep warm) and a couple of friends at our table did not eat the Filet Mignon (was soo every cooked it bounced off the plate) the sad thing is the waiter saw a bunch of people did not eat there dinner at our table and he did not even say anything and as a joke our friend bounced it right in front of him... but no one really cared I am sure they filled up on extra alcohol
I always play it safe with boring chicken ~ it was pretty good ~ But I do have to say the Viennese hour was AMAZING and sooo YUMMY! My favorite was the chocolate fountain ~ it was sooo much fun!

Ok now I am worried. I was trying not to worry last night and I went to the showcase and I had a baked clam and I really did not care for the breading at all.

I wouldn't worry! Everyone has different experiences. When they're catering to that many people not everyone has the same tastes, standards, etc ... And every place has an off night. I think the safest bet is to talk to the banquet manager and get a feel for what's the most popular, best tasting and in-season dishes. You may want clams, but they may not be the best in January.
