Hey ladies.. Not sure if I am behind the ball or not but Watermill is almost done with a bunch of renovations. Much more contemporary than how it used to be. I really like it but everyone has their own preference so if you haven't been in a while I suggest going to check it out!

I saw the changes they made to the bridal suite. Not sure how Watermill used to look though. I just know that I love the way it looks now. What else has been changed if you don't mind me asking?

Well while I was there tonight there was an artist putting up a cool sculpture on the wall in the upstairs hallway. The floors that are now in the bridal suite (they are like a gray wood) will eventually be extended all throughout the lobby and halls in place of the carpet that's currently there. They told me that should be completed by the time of my wedding in January. All the furniture is different as well as the curtains and drapery. Nothing was in your face different (at least not to me) but it definitely went from a more old school Gold Coast kind of feel to a much more modern decor. I personally love it and can't wait even more for my wedding. Lol. But everyone is different so I just wanted to make other ladies were aware because I had NO clue any renovations were occurring. We booked well over a year ago and I probably haven't been there in the last 4-6 months so I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in tonight.

Thanks! That does sound nice! I definitely prefer wood floors over carpet. When I went they told me the lighting features in the ballrooms were new but not sure how new. Happy we won't have to pay extra for lighting though. I can't wait either! Although I still have a year & a half left lol. Since your wedding is much sooner I can't wait to read your review

Hi ladies! Funny enough, I was there tonight as well - I'm considering it as my venue for my wedding next year. However, I've read mixed reviews on the food and managing of the traffic flow considering they hold more than one event - so I'm just wondering, what made you fall in love with the venue? Previous experience? Word of mouth? I agree, the modern look is right up my alley, but wondering what made it click for you! ? Thanks for any and all feedback! And congratulations!

Oh and they also changed the bakery! Can't believe I forgot that part.. When I booked it was Rolling Pin, now its Dortoni's.

@dnova - there were a couple of things we were looking for when we booked and Watermill just fit for us. Since we are doing a January wedding, we didn't want to make our families drive far (we all live 15-20 min from Watermill), we wanted something that was not expensive as we are paying for it ourselves (after negotiating, they ended up being the cheapest and we looked at 8-10 places) and we wanted a place that didn't require us to have to come in and totally re-decorate or decorate to begin with to get it to look nice. While we haven't been to a wedding there, we have been for another event and the food and traffic was fine. We also tasted the food throughout various points in planning (at showcases and what not) and it was grey. I recently became friends with someone who got married at Watermill a little over 2 years ago and she said her day was amazing. I know they hold up to 2 weddings at a time and they stagger them. I was hoping to have my cocktail hour start at 7, but they said they typically start the downstairs wedding (the larger one) an hour before so by the time your guests are coming in (if you are in upstairs room) the other party is all settled downstairs. There are bathrooms downstairs and upstairs, the upstairs ones are off the lobby, so there's really no reason to run into other guests in the bathroom but I'm sure it happens. Part of the other joys of booking in winter is that there's definitely less likely of a chance another event will even be going on that night. Hope I didn't ramble too much and gave you some good information!
