I decided since some other halls have a 'thread' on here...lets make one for us. I LOVE talking to other Watermill brides. Lets tell what room we are in and any questions or things we find out we can share with each other.
We are upstairs in the Astor suite.
Some things I found out from my BM there is - that for pictures you can show up as far as 1 & 1/2 hours before CH to take pictures there and the bridal attendant brings you food and drink while your taking pic's.
-They are frowning upon the 'votive candle place card holders' but Im doing them anyway since I didnt get a straight out no.
-The chocolate fountain can only be provided by them. Its $300 PLUS $3 a person
-the bathrooms have attendants in them during the wedding
-you can get flowers for your cake from their in house florist if you need
-you can call to get direction cards mailed to you
If I think of anything else I'll let ya's know.
And SHARE pics! I used to have a pic of the tables( to use with CP' planning but I lost it )

Some pics of the Astor room and the tables ( found em)
I'm glad you started this thread. I'm always looking for insightful info on the watermill. We are in the Astor room as well. I love this room so much. It's so classy and warm. Have you done your tasting yet to decide on a menu???

Re: WATERMILL thread
I'm getting married in the astor room as well. I think the pictures you posted were the ones i took in august. I love the room more everytime i see it! I wish i had more info. to add but i can't think of anything at the moment.
The only thing i'm doing that is a bit different is not using the 6 candles on the bride and groom table.
I'm having my florist decorate the mantle behind the bride and groom table with different size pillar candles and roses.

Re: WATERMILL thread
I am a Watermill bride too!!
We are also in the Astor room. Does anyone know if there is an extra charge for the chair covers? If there is how much? The room looks so nice with them on!

Re: WATERMILL thread
Another Watermill bride here! We are in the Vanderbuilt Room. I am so excited, I really love the Watermill. They do charge for chair covers, I don't remember exactly how much though. I do remember him telling me that it was cheaper if you ordered them upon booking, rather than deciding on it later. Don't ask me why, though!! Thanks for starting this thread!

Re: WATERMILL thread
KL805- Those are your pics! I had lost them and did a search tonight and finally found them. They were life savers as far as helping with my CP's and knowing how big they needed to be.
I dont want to use the long taper candles on the Sweetheart table neither, I dont like them that much.
Yes, they told us too that the chair covers are extra. I think maybe they put the covers on those two side tables like in the pics? Anyone know?
Im going to email my BM to ask about the chiar cover prices.
Who is everyone's Banquet Manager? Mine is Bruce.

Re: WATERMILL thread
Another questions for ya's. Did anyone decide on their menu yet? My FH hates the choices..mostly the chicken ones. And I was thinking of asking them for other options. I mentioned it to them when we booked ( about the chicken choices...they all have either pork or cheese and Duckling is not something our families would eat) and the BM kinda frowned upon our wanting something simipler?

Re: WATERMILL thread
My BM is Bruce, too. I asked about those two side tables with the chair covers and he said that they won't be like that on the actual night, they are there just so we could see what that kind of setting looks like.
I am also not into the chicken dishes so much
Oh, I HAD to get the chocolate fountain, but for me it was 500 plus 1 per person.
Did anyone go to that showcase they had a couple of weeks ago? I was going to go but it was really rainy and windy out, so I never went.

Do you think your gonna just pick from those chicken choices?

Re: WATERMILL thread
Oh good our own thread! I have been out of the planning loop the last few weeks. Moved in with FH... boxes everywhere and I'm a teacher and the schoolwork has been nuts. I haven't even thought much about the reception yet.
Bruce is my BM too. I'm a bit ticked as he never mentioned that the chair covers are less if you order them while booking.
I also have a flower issue that I didn't get in the contract because we didn't realize it at first. FH is VER allergic to lillies. It seems they like to use them in the common area flowers. Seriously, his sinuses seize up if he's within 50 feet of them. Do you think I can get this in the contract now?
Also, the bathroom for the Astor Suite. I know it's in the hallway so is it ours or will others be in there? I don't want the world using the baskets for my guests.
TIA

Re: WATERMILL thread
Davidsbride: the bathroom upstairs is just for the astor room...the other wedding downstairs has its own bathroom.
I'm also a teacher so i know what you mean with trying to plan and be at working. I tried to get most of my planning done this summer but that didn't work out too well.

Re: WATERMILL thread
That's insane I can buy chaircovers at the outlet for $15. If I bought them, handed them to each guest and then when they approached the table they put them on the chair... what could they do about it. LOL. And then if four or more of us used them... LOL. Sometimes my money saving ideas go too far.
Well, that's NAKED chairs for me!
Maybe, NAKED chairs for all?

Re: WATERMILL thread
I'm not paying that price. I mean most people just sit to eat dinner, they will be dancing and the chairs arent that bad. At least they are one color versus say multi colored.

Re: WATERMILL thread
The chairs aren't that bad and once the room is filled with people you won't even notice...they are not worth the extra $ if you are on a tighter budget (like me!)
I'm so happy we have our own watermill thread for the 05ers

Re: WATERMILL thread
I asked why the chair covers were so expensive (b/c I loved them and wanted them badly). the reason I was given was that they need to cover the cost of the 'drycleaning'.. No chair covers for me either..

Re: WATERMILL thread
hey everyone. i am in the astor room too. $5.00 for the chair cover that is insane.
what color table clothes do they use just the plain white ones or do they have other colors?
i am getting the chocolate fountain, it's $500 plus $1 per person for the product and i was going to get the chair covers, but not anymore. will they let you bring in your own?
