Well I went to the Watermill on Sunday and the guy who was showing us around was such a jerk and basically told us (b4 he even said hello) that he can't help us unless we up our budget and the guest list. Wouldn't even show us the Small room that could hold our reception! So I wrote that place off, OH YA! I didn't even tell u that we SHOWED US THE BIG ROOM WHILE A WEDDING WAS GOING ON! And he showed us the cocktail room while the wedding guest were in there!!!!!!!
OK 2nd Hall....
Has ne one been to the vineyard caterers? We went there to look at the hall about a yr ago and loved it (plus no one could beat the menu!) The people were sweet, and if they could work with our smaller guest list (we cut our list alot after we went there) we are POSITIVE on having it there. But I just wanted to see what u girls thought of it! Any opinions would be helpful.

I no that the vineyard is more money, but I am willing to pay more $$ if I feel we r getting great service! And at the vineyard, u just feel that every thing would b taken care of and u could relax.

They r a beatiful place! I just really did not feel comfortable with what they did, and I got such crappy service! And the guy was like ' WELL I have a profit margin to meet' I really wanted to hit him! B/C rite there told me he was not concerned about us, just making his comission! I would be all worried about every little thing if I booked there b/c I am kinda a perfectionist and have alot of OCD's.

Re: Watermill & Vineyard Caterers
I'm booked with the Vineyard caterers also. I really can't say enough good things. FM me if you want more info. As for the # of guests, I had to guarantee 150 for a sat night in June. When I saw the room the first time, it was set up for a luncheaon for 180 people, and there was plenty of room. The capacity is 250. Everyone there is really so sweet, honest and accomodating. I was actually haveing an issue with the hotel I'm booked with and called VC on Friday to see if they could help and Johnny the Maitre D' answered and was so sweet and calming as I was crying on the phone. When we went to book them, FH had a headache and Johnny went and found some tylenol for him. Also, FH has an obsession with sauce, he says you can tell how good a place's food will be by their sauce (he's nuts) so he asked to taste some sauce and they brought up a plate of toasted bread and a cup of sauce, and let me tell you it was great. Aso for price, in comparison to what friends of mine paid by me (Staten Island and NJ), I'm paying half as much for twice as much food. There's really nothing to add on, there is so much offered. HTH

UPDATE:
I called the owner of the Watermill! He was just as peeved at the BM (Bob with a lisp) as I am! He wants me to come dwn and talk with their Director of Sales on Thurs the 21st. IDK if it is even worth it? I liked the hall but now, say if I did go thru them, I feel like my day would just get messed up b/c I put in a complaint. NE suggestions?

It was Bob that was rude to you??? I've been e-mailing him back and forth the last few months about having a smaller (75-100) guest list.
I think if you have the time that you should at least go back. Let them make it up to you! Plus you never know; they might try extra hard to get the sour taste out of your mouth-throw in some extras; offer a lower quote-or lower minimum. Hey you never know. Maybe you can use that unfortunate experience to your advantage. At least give them a 2nd chance but if you sense anything off or not up to parr then cross them off your list. I've never heard anything bad about them before so i think it was just a one time experience.
Best of luck! Let us know what you decide

Re: Watermill & Vineyard Caterers
Well I was on Weddingwire.com to see what the reviews were in the Watermill and One bride said they didnt want to let her father walk her dwn the aisle b/c he was late for the rehersal, and some other things. IDK but I dont want to fall into their Bridezilla Category. B/C then they won't be as good as they can be.

IDK-it sounds like you're already turned off by them; so then it's their lost. You want to know that even though they book thousands of weddings each year; that they treat you special and make that one day magical for you. If you're already having problems before you even booked...it might be a sign of more to come??
I'm still going to go next week and check them out for myself; however they're a little further out on Long Island than i prefer so we'll probably end up going with something closer

Re: Watermill & Vineyard Caterers
I've been to two weddings at the Vineyard and both were great. The first was years ago before it became a true RH like it is now. The other was about 3 years ago and it was great. I was in the BP and had nothing to worry about. They were really nice from before the wedding was booked right till the end of the night.
