Watermill vs. Majestic Gardens

Ok, I am a newbie on this board and my fiancee just wanted me to post this question. For those who have been married or been to weddings at either one of these places, can you provide some feedback? We are really torn between this decision. Price is the same. (.50pp difference) We want to make the deposit on either place this Friday.

Well I have never been to majestic gardes but i know from my parents and reading other posts on this board I don't think you can go wrong with the Watermill--there service is amazing and their food is too. They really know how to run a wedding & the place is great! I am getting married their in teh Vanderbuilt room and I couldn't be happier with my choice. As I said I have never been to majestic gardens but I would definitely do a search for both on teh bride's review board--to see what peopel said about each--from what I have read nobody has said a bad thing about the watermill.

I second the watermill although I have never been to Majestic Gardens so my review is sort of one-sided. But the Watermill was amazing the food was great all the rooms were nice for the wedding but we were in the big room and she had her ceremony outside it was beautiful

But check both places out before you make a decision

I have never been to the Watermill, although I passed by it on my way to Majestic Gardens and it looks very nice.
The only thing I would say is the number of parties...Majestic Gardens only has one at a time and the Watermill has more, but they stagger. I was very close to booking Majestic Gardens because I loved their ceremony space, but ended up picking something closer. I don't think you can go wrong with either, they both seem great, so it's going to come down to your preference.

Magestic Gardens, hands down, especially if you're getting married in nice weather.

The grounds are beautiful, food and service are great and it's one event at a time.

I have never been to a wedding at Majestic Gardens but, I did look their and did not like the place. This is just my opinion, there was just something about the ceramic swans outside that got to me.
I have been to a wedding at the watermill and I actually almost booked their. They throw a really nice wedding.

My vote also goes to the watermill. The inside decor is sooooo elegant and the food is really good!!

So watermill is not a one wedding at a time place? Anyone ever bump into problems with that? Our wedding would be in the Astor room.

There are two weddings at a time and there may be other events. I am having my cocktail hour in the astor room at 7 I know that the bride who is having her reception in the astor room doesn't have her cocktail hour start until 8 which is when mine is over then all my guests will go downstairs where the reception is...my guests have their own bathrooms and never have to go upstairs for anything unless they want a cigarette. I don't think it is a problem--hands down their service & food are amazing--seeing another bride would't ruin that.

I haven't been to the Watermill in a while, but I always love the cocktail hour....food is good and the coctail hour area outside is very nice.

Majestic Gardens is great! The food is so good. Very pretty and spacious. Only one wedding is a biggie for me.

Good Luck!

Just as an FYI, the swans can be removed. I am also not a fan of swans and I viced that during my meeting, the owners will d anything to please you...they say it's your day, your way. The service seems impeccable and you can't beat that place for an outdoor wedding.

I am getting married at Majestic Gardens and I have to say I have gotten the best service thus far. They are the nicest people running that catering hall. They are avail. to answer any and all of your questions. Its one wedding at a time and I love that. the grounds are amazing I love it and can't wait to be married there.

We booked Majestic. The food is spectacular the staff is top notch and the land is absolutley breath taking!

Hmm, they're both really gorgeous inside and out. I've heard the food at MG is really good and WM is too. What bothers me about WM is they'll do multiple weddings, if MG only does one at a time that's better. There's nothing like the pricelessness of devotion and attention from your caterer. I don't want me or my guests to feel like herded cattle and have to rush through the day. Hope this helps!

actually i have been to a Wedding recently and a few functions at Watermill and they do not 'herd anyone around like cattle'.
Nobody was 'rushed' either!

Just because a hall has more than one wedding doesn't necessarily mean they do not give the attention and devotion that any other wedding gets

I've never been to Majestic, But I have been to multiple weddings at the Watermill, and booked it myself. - I have 275 people and believe me, they will not be 'herded like cattle!' The staff is extremely attentive, and the facility is SO well prepared and adequately staffed to handle 2 weddings at a time.
