Ok, I am a newbie on this board and my fiancee just wanted me to post this question. For those who have been married or been to weddings at either one of these places, can you provide some feedback? We are really torn between this decision. Price is the same. (.50pp difference) We want to make the deposit on either place this Friday.

Re: Watermill vs. Majestic Gardens
I was married @ the Watermill. My brother (getting married in '06) looked at other halls. I dont think he cared for Majestic Gardens too much. Ive never been there. My vote is definitley for the Watermill. My CH was in the astor room, reception in the Vanderbuilt room. The food is fantastic, the rooms are gorgeous, the staff is excellent. Oh, did I mention my bro and fsil ended up booking the Watermill Good Luck to you!

Re: Watermill vs. Majestic Gardens
I was in the same boat as you. I torn between the Watermill and Majestic Gardens. I ended up choosing the Majestic Gardens.
The Watermill is beautiful, the food is amazing and everyone I talked to there were so nice and helpful. The things I didn't like were the guests sharing the entrance and the restrooms and just the added bustle of a second party. I know the second party would have been in the smaller room, but I've been to some events there where the small room was maxed out in attendence and the party I was attending was pretty large too... Some people would get a little confused and the guest would inadvertently mingle together... I just know how imbibed some people get and didn't like the idea of people wandering into the wrong event (mine or theirs).
The Majestic Gardens were beautiful too, the food is great and the people there are wonderful as well. The price was a better for the Saturday night I chose, and I liked the cocktail hour, the patio and the secret garden of the hall. I also liked that there's only one wedding at time, so I know I'll be the most important thing going on. My guest have free rein of the hall and its grounds, and there's plenty of parking that my guests won't have to share with another event. Jeanine (our BM)has been amazing at answering all our questions (the million times I've called her, since booking 3 weeks ago).
But either way, it'll be beautiful.. Both facilities are great. Just think on what you want for your day and what's important.. and then go from there.
Good Luck!

Watermill!!! we were in the astor room, no other wedding on our date. I think there was a party in one of the smaller rooms - but didn't even know untill our wedding was over!

I say that if you can get Majestic Gardens for only fifty cents more then you must have received an amazing price or VERY steep discount. I have been to affairs at both the watermill and majestic gardens and there is no comparasion with the quality of food at the majestic gardens. IMO the food is considerably better at MJ. And the grounds are gorgeous....the cocktail hour is fabulous as well. You wont be dissapointed

I have been to both, and vote Majestic Gardens.
We were considering it for our wedding too. Before I saw The Vineyards...I like one wedding at a time places.
The secret garden is beautiful for outdoor ceremonies.

Re: Watermill vs. Majestic Gardens
Personally, I like the watermill because of its location and because they have alot included in their package. When I recieved their information on the free wedding planner, flowers, and other things included, I was instantly swayed. Majestic gardens is also very nice because they have a gorgeous reception and cocktail hour room, not to mention their lovely and intimate gardens. It's very hard to decided between the two, so hopefully you can help your fiance by giving your opinion on the two.

I vote Majestic Gardens. I felt that the Watermill was masculine with the darker wood and Majestic Gardens was more my style with the gorgeous red carpet and the large ballroom with chandellers. I didn't like the Watermill too much. It all depends on your style. Oh, and I will have the swans removed for my reception at MG without a problem.

Re: Watermill vs. Majestic Gardens
my wedding at the Watermill beat every expectation I had. I drove myself NUTS over making a hall decision...literally and I was AMAZED. I would recomend them till I die. They had everything covered, and I had not one concern the entire night. There are not enough good things to say in my opinion.

Hmm..I must be missing something. Where are the swans that everyone keeps mentioning. I havent been to Majestic since last October and I cant seem to remember where they were

Re: Watermill vs. Majestic Gardens
I Vote Watermill, When I went to Majestic, A man named John showed us around and I just didn't like his approach. He was trying to rush us into picking majestic gardens by telling us if we didn't book it with 3-4 days he was going to raise the prices. When he said that, My mom was like definitely not having it here. I just thought that that was very pushy and rude. But that is just my experience with the place. We actually choose Villa's. I love them.

I just had to mention that your BM, Jeanine, is one of my very very good friends!!! She wasn't working there when we booked our wedding, or else we probably would have really considered MG.
When I talk to her, I'll let her know that people are saying nice things about her. It will make her day

Re: Watermill vs. Majestic Gardens
I vote for Watermill A few months before the wedding I started freaking out about all of the things that had to happen at the reception in order for it to be a perfect evening for DH and I and our guests. Then I remembered everyone raving about the Scotto brothers and how wonderfully they take care of weddings. I felt much more relieved and confident of where we booked! I have to say I was right to feel relieved, everything was perfect, and all our guests agreed! (But of course I'm one-sided, having never been to MG).

Re: Watermill vs. Majestic Gardens
Its funny b/c the last two place I was torn between was Majestic and the Watermill. We went to the Watermill and I LOVED it after we went to Majestic. We actually DROVE BACK to majestic just to make sure, and I finnally decided on Watermill. I just loved the elegance of the place. Both were beautiful, watemill was just more my style. the outside is AWESOME for ch too!

Do a search on this site...there were some pretty positive and negative things about Watermill, brides passing brides on staircases, etc....I remember reading them but not exact details.

Re: Watermill vs. Majestic Gardens
Just an update to everyone wh oprovided wonderful responses and FM's. After all the responses,a long look at each menu, and an even longer pro/con debate, we decided on Majestic Gardens.
That is until last night. Last night we saw The Inn at East Wind and both just fell in love with it. Now the debate is between Majestic and East Wind. We are going to make a final decision this weekend.

So watermill is not a one wedding at a time place? Anyone ever bump into problems with that? Our wedding would be in the Astor room.
ive been to 2 wedding there in the past 2 years....and I never bumped into anyone from the other party....this is one of the reasons we booked them
