We just booked Water's Edge for September 7th 2007. Has anyone gotten married or been to a wedding there? We fell in love with the place but I'm slightly worried about size. We're having between 120-150 people and I was wondering if the cocktail hour would be crowded. Also, how is it set up. Are there tables? I know they split the reception room in half for it and I just fear it will not be enough room There is the option to have it outside but there is a set up fee and its already way more than we wanted to spend. Anything anyone can tell me about this orthe place in general would be ahuge help. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was there for a Holiday party last year and thought it was great. The had a great raw bar for cocktail hr.
Excellent choice!

Re: Water's Edge in Long Island City
FH and I looked there, but it was too pricey for the number of people we needed to invite...
My best friend and her parents attended a wedding there two years ago. They said it was wonderful and the food was fantastic. They also said that they bride and groom paid for the boat to take them on an after-party cruise which everyone loved.
Best of luck!

Thank you so much, that makes me feel better. The boat is awesome but with everything else, we can't afford it. We'll probably havur own after party with everyone back at the hotel.

my fhs brother got married there a couple of years ago and everything about it was great. The food was great, they had their ceremony in a pretty room and their pictures with the new york skyline are gorgeous. Congratulations and good luck!!

Re: Water's Edge in Long Island City
I've been there for dinner (FH actually takes me there for our anniversary every year) and the food was incredible!!! Outstanding! There was a wedding there last year when we were there, and they had cocktail hour outside...it was georgous, but the only thing was- we were right on the dock, and the weddding guests were about 15 feet away- which was a little awkward- I almost felt like I was intruding on their wedding! So while it's beautiful, people can still enjoy the view and go outside w/out the whole hour being out there!

I went to dinner there and it was very good...the food and the service was very good but the bill almost gave us a heart attack...one thing you might want to find out is how they prepare their food for weddings...I heard its very different (the food) from the restaurant food...

I went to a wedidng there about 2 yers ago. There were way over 250 people there and the CH was cowded with not too many tables/chairs. But for the # of people you will be having it should work out great. Good luck!

Re: Water's Edge in Long Island City
I just went to a wedding there on Sunday!!!!
it was, to say the least.... FABULOUS!!!! The food is DELICIOUS and the view is GORGEOUS and it was just a VERY classy place.
You'll have nothing to worry about!
Also... our friend's who got married there had a booze cruise take them around the city after the wedding!! (I think the Water's Edge does that.)

Re: Water's Edge in Long Island City
I'm getting married there in 2 weeks. we were supposed to have the CH on the pier but it has been condemned by the city all summer. the city was supposed to have started and completed construction by now but it doesn't look like its happening. it is truly disappointing. we are very worried about the CH 'shuffle' they do. but whatever, if guests let 5 minutes of awkward waiting bother them all night then that's their problem, i think it will be fine i just don't get how they do it all in 5 minutes! we're doing the after boat cruise which we're so excited about! we're having 150 people, about 14 tables. let me know if you have any questions!
