rub ice over the wax or put it in the freezer and then scrape it off with the dull side of a butter knife when it's hard.

Re: Wax on a tablecloth?
I've also heard that a credit card makes a good, safe scraper.
If there is still residue, place the cloth on top of several pieces of brown paper bag (or just one piece, over foil to protect your ironing board) and put brown paper, then iron. This will melt the wax and the paper absorbs it. Keep replacing the paper until no more wax comes off on the paper. Washing it should get out any remaining wax, but if it doesn't you can dry clean it. This is best with white or light candles - you may find that the dyes from dark candles leave a stain on a light cloth.
This is basically how you remove the wax resist from fabrics if you are doing Batik dye-resist coloring of fabric.

Re: Wax on a tablecloth?
I used to get wax on my clothes all the time in college from my stupid sorority stuff/ceremonies where we used candles ALL THE TIME!!!
The iron trick is by far the BEST! that's what I always use... and I've tried everything!

Re: Wax on a tablecloth?
Funny you should ask!!!
This Christmas we had bought a real expensive xmas tablecloth and my mom moved the candles so my son could blow them out....needless to say tons of wax there was three pillar candles!!
I tried all the above and then got fed up and didn't nothing. Finally the other day I said let me just see what happens if I was it. I washed it in cold water.. then dried it with a towel and wala....all gone. I think the cold water caked it up then the dryer and the towel just removed it. You can't see where it was at all!
