How difficult are the wax seals? How time consuming are they? If you had to estimate how long it took to do 100, how many hours? Is it annoying and messy? Where can you buy the materials, other than online? Thanks

Re: Wax Seals/Faux Wax Seals Questions
I did them on the quick release sheet - took me like 1 hour to do 60 or so. I put them in the fridge to keep them cool, and I'm using treasure gold to bring out the pattern. I got mine at www.fauxwax.com, although I got the glue gun at a 99 cent store.

Re: Wax Seals/Faux Wax Seals Questions
It's not hard at all. You can buy colored glue sticks that you can put in a low-temp hot glue gun to use with a seal and it looks just like wax.
The silicone mat is the key. The glue won't stick to the mat and it make making the seals a lot easier.
This is how I made my seals.
1. Heat the glue in a LOW-TEMP glue gun.
2. Chill you metal seal on a ice cube (Having the seal cold makes it easier to release it from the hot glue)
3. Put a few squirts of glue onto the silicone mat. (maybe two or three squirts is fine)
4. Glently press the metal seal onto the glue.
5. Lift off the metal seal and let the glue harden.
6. Lift off the glue seal from the mat and start another one.
I think it took me a few hours to make all that I needed. I used the seals on my rose petal cones and for the covers of the wedding programs.

Re: Wax Seals/Faux Wax Seals Questions
Okay, really stupid question. How do you get them on the envelopes. My own naivete has lead me to believe that your melt the 'wax' on the envelope, but I guess that is not actually the case.
I'm confused

You can, but it's easier to do them beforehand and glue them on.

Great.
Do they sell faux wax in any stores or do I need to order it?

Re: Wax Seals/Faux Wax Seals Questions
Hi! Just saw this. I just finished them. At the beginning they are a little tricky, but then I got the hang of them. I agree with everything that was written above. I bought the glue gun and mat at Michaels (with a 20% coupon)
Then I ordered the glue online from faux wax. Michaels sells some colored glue, but I needed gold and they only had glitter gold, I needed regular gold.
As far as getting them on the envelope, I tried using regular glue and just sent one to myself in the mail to see how it turns out. I'll let you know. What is everyone else using? Clear glue sticks?
Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Wax Seals/Faux Wax Seals Questions
I did them right on the envelopes...saved a step. I practiced a little before hand and was fine when I did them. I used a low temp glue gun and the wax sticks. I initially tried it with the candles, but they were really hard to use.
edited to say-You do have to have the envelopes hand stamped by the post office if you use the seals. It doesn't cost any extra, you just don't want them putting the invites through the machines.
This site has tons of different colors of glue sticks at cheap prices.
I made the seals and then glued them on my cones and programs. i didn't want to take the chance of messing one up...especially if I didn't like how the seal came out.
