Ok, I've never had a bikini wax, but would like to get one for the honeymoon...which begins next Saturday. So, what are the chances I might breakout from it? And how soon before Saturday can I do it that it will last...but can heal if I DO breakout? Help! Thanks!

Re: Waxing Question
Breakout meaning? Pimples? Cause I don't think you'll breakout at all. You might experience some ingrowns but only as the hair regrows in.

Re: Waxing Question
I would do it on Wednesday, Thursday at latest. You will definitely be red for at least a day, but in my experience the wax lasts about 2 weeks before regrowth.
Ingrowns happen when the hair starts to grow back in, so you definitely should have two weeks of looking good!

Yeah, meaning pimples. Some people say they break out, and that wouldn't look very pretty...

Okay, now on a scale of 1 to 10, how painful is it?

Re: Waxing Question
Depends how much you are getting taken off. It is painful, but if you suck your breath in right when they pull each strip it is not so bad....make sure you go somewhere where they know what they're doing. And don't be embarrassed...they will put you in positions that even your FH probably hasn't seen you in!!
If you get the full wax (meaning everything) it REALLLY hurts - anything near or on the lips kills.
Good luck!
I would say an 8.

Re: Waxing Question
Funny you should ask. I've been getting brazillian waxing for about 2 years now. I've been so busy the last few weeks, I was about a month over due. I usually go once a month- the week after 'my friend'. The very first time I went I did get little red bumps, but never had them again. It's 9pm now and I had it done at 1pm- I'm swore. But I guess after awhile you get used to the pain. I'm not going to lie, it does hurt. Try ripping a band-aid off your arm.
I also think once you start to feel comfortable with the person you go to, you'll be able to relax alittle more and it takes some of the pain away. I've been using the same women since I started

Re: Waxing Question
I am one of the few, I guess... I went for the first time about a year ago, and you couldn't pay me enough to do it again! YES, you can break out! Yes, you can have a bad reaction! I researched and went to a well known salon to the same person my friend uses. I would say try doing another area, or small area now, then go back when you KNOW your skin can take it! The redness and irritation did go away, but to me it wasn't soon enough! JMO!

Re: Waxing Question
there's actually a really amazing product out there that one of my roommates introduced me too - it's called tend skin - it's in a blue bottle, you can get it at sephora. you use it for a few days beforehand and then for awhile after the waxing. i've waxed a few times and always got bumpy and had ingrowns, but not when i used this. i love this stuff!

Re: Waxing Question
Not that i'm condong off label drug use, but if you have any painkillers laying around, this might be a good time to take them. just get somsoen to drive you to and from. That's what I'll probably do when I finally get the guts to try it. I'll take a 1/2 a musle relaxer and 1/2 a pain pill and I won't even notice what's going on down there..LOL

Re: Waxing Question
you cant wax until you have a few weeks of growout. i went too early once and it was painful and a waste of money.

Re: Waxing Question
You will have red bumps. Just irritation from the waxing. Buy that bikini zone gel from CVS and apply it 3 times a day to help the bumps. They go away in 3 days anyway. I would get it done on like Wednesday. it will last for a few weeks
