Waxing questions...

Waxing questions...

I have never done this before, but I am wanting to try it for my wedding...

How long before the actual day should I go and how much does it REALLY hurt?

Also, anyone have suggestions for a place to go in Eastern Suffolk? I live in Riverhead...

The spa at St. Tropez is nice, it's in Port Jefferson. What about the spa at East Wind, I have never been, but hear good things. I got a bikini as a tester for a brazilian for the wedding. So far so good. I am going to go a week before I think. This way everything is healed and the swelling is down and all.

i went to Luna Mesa Day Spa on montauk hwy in moriches. i've only gone once so far and it definately hurt, lol but it wasn't so unbearable that i wouldn't do it again. i would probably go between 3 - 5 days before to give it a chance to heal.

Yeah, the first time is the worst, so wait like 5 days for the swelling. Its worth it though, and it takes like 5-6 weeks to come back!

Do not to it the week before AF because you'll be much more sensitive. (I would imagine you'll be fine since you don't plan to have it for your wedding - just future advice.) Take advil about 1/2 hour before the appointment. You can go to CVS to get a numbing spray. It helps a little. I recommend doing it no more than 4 days before because hair can start to grow (those super tiny ones that couldn't get waxed). If you have super sensitive skin you'll be red for a few hours, but it will go away. You might feel a little sore the next day, but you should be fine. Don't use any lotions with fragrance or anything for a few days. They'll tell you what to do. Let the person know it's your first time when you go.

Re: Waxing questions...

Do it two or three days beforehand. It does hurt, but it's not unbearable. I've never had a Brazilian, but usually just when I start to think 'I can't bear any more of this...' it's over. The last time, two days before my wedding last month, the waxer said to me, 'Why are you sweating?' And I said, 'Oh, I don't know, someone's smearing hot wax on my hoo-ha and ripping the hair off, why would that make me sweat???' She laughed. Then ripped off more hair.

It's definitely worth it for a vacation--or honeymoon--away where you're in a bathing suit every day. You save so much time not having to worry about shaving! Another week or two and I'll go again...

I swear by it, but don't live anywhere near Riverhead to recommend.
The first few times it hurts so bad, but then you get used to it and it's not a big deal.

GOOD LUCK!

oh my god! i JUST got my first brazilian. i used to shave, but i let it grow for like 2-3 weeks and then i went. it hurt a little bit, but after the first few, you kind of get used to it. it is 100000 times better than shaving. and i was only sore/read/TINY bit bumpy for one day at the most. so i would say 2-3 days before is totally fine. and i have VERY sensitive, dry skin too. FM with any questions - i'm very 'open' hahaha
