Did you know that you can negotiate prices for your reception? I had no idea until three of my friends did it. They all booked at the smae place and their discount for booking together was $30 less per plate for each wedding.
I always said that when it was time for me to be married, I would do it with some of my friends so we could negotiate and get great discounts too. The problem is that none my friends are getting married next year or anytime soon. I really don't want to wait longer than next year!
So I was wondering if anyone would like to do this with me?
You don't have to do it on the same date, but it does have to be the same location. I don't have my heart set on anywhere specific-besides it being in Suffolk County.

Re: Way to Negotiate Prices
You don't need to have another person booking with you to negogiate prices. You can do it on your own. Most halls will decrease the price you increase your minimum. Or, if there is something in the package you don't want, ask to have it tkaen out and get a lower price instead. Or just let them know you're interested, but the price is a little too high for you. most halls are willing to negotiate the price for you.

Re: Way to Negotiate Prices
We negotiated HARDCORE with our hall, and it paid off. We just kept going back, and tweaking different things until we had a price and a date we were thrilled with.
My motto: Just ask, the worst that can happen? They tell you no.

Re: Way to Negotiate Prices
We actually didn't even need to negotiate at all. As soon as our BM said the price, he was like 'you know what, I'll take $15 off'! In times like these, I'm sure you'll be able to work somehting out, especially if you make it clear you love the RH

Re: Way to Negotiate Prices
Most times if you up the minimum they will lower the price or if you ask for less then what is on their menu

Our RH did. We are a Saturday night in July and they negotiated.

Re: Way to Negotiate Prices
All of our vendors we asked if we could pay in cash to avoid the tax, some are letting us and some aren't, its a HUGE savings!! Also I remember some reception halls we were looking at were willing to also. Unfortunately the one we booked at wouldn;t let us lol

The trick is DON'T let them see that you are eager and totally in love with the place when you first see it, because if they see how much you love it they know that they have you nomatter what. Tell them that they need to work with the pricing because you got cheaper quotes elsewhere and trust me they'll do something. Your the one with the money in your hand and their the ones who wanna snatch it up so they will work it out somehow

Re: Way to Negotiate Prices
When we went to RHs, a lot of them 'negotiated' by throwing in free stuff. Which is awesome, but their prices were still over our budget. Just be careful with that. They might tell you 'oh, well we'll throw in the venetian hour' or something like that but not change the price. If you're just looking to get more for your buck, that's great, but if you're looking to lower the actual price, then beware.
